there, I made a new thread about it.

reading my own typos is killing me.

I can't edit, search threads, or view members previous posts.

does a contributing member lose such privileges on a regular basis?

or am in some sort of doghouse?

(this is after at least four e-mails were sent to at least three admins)

you have to be a contributing member with <i>over</i> 4,000 posts to get those privileges.

clutch turns the functions off during peak traffic, but you don't have the search/edit function even though it's not a high traffic time?

yes, this is correct. except I'm not hearing anything from any of the admins. I'm left guessing why my search/edit functions are disabled.

it's been like this for at least a month and I havent heard anyone else with the same issue.

I don't have anything to do with this issue...but is there a reason the admins have decided not to respond in this thread?

Maybe because they are busy covering the draft and getting new content for this site?

Come on, patience young padwan.

Making public threads to try and get things done to your account is pretty much a guarantee that you won't get what you want.

I appreciate everyone's comments. I have sent lots of private emails, to more than one admin. feel free to delete or lock this thread.

As an administrator (not of a BBS), I can say that administrators love it when you send multiple emails to multiple people on the same issue. "Lots" is even better.

This building does in fact resemble a dungeon, but I cannot take hit points from people. :( Would really help me enact policies.

You could at least install a spike pit right in front of the elevators, or a sliding floor that would tip everyone into the elevator shaft.

you gotta get creative

In fact, now that I've had time to reflect, I believe the people in this building are all fighting with -3 weaponry.

I hate no being able to edit my own post. Why is such a simple and basic feature at every other forum not available to members at Clutch Fans?

Sometimes I don't know if it is a human being on the other end of B-Bob's post, or a brillliant space ape pretending to live out a fantasy life inspired by the movie "Real Genius"

I have been. Not everyone has time to make 4,000 posts in order to have an edit function. I post more at TexansTalk (over 3,000 posts there), and the edit feature was available with post one. This is the only forum I have seen where the edit feature is not available for members. Now, I have seen forums where there is a limit. Like you can't edit after 15+ minutes.

I respect Clutch and the empire he has built with this place though. :)

Dude, that first reply is a joke...you don't have to have 4000+ posts...I've been editing posts ever since I was changed to a contributing member.

I don't have much at 16, even with my job, but I'll see what I can do.

What I have to say is not a request; rather, it is a mere question.

I have seen members with a low post count such as myself, while at the same time I have seen rookies with unthinkably high post counts. I have seen those demoted to rookie, and I have experienced a promotion. But I'm a bit confused with the process.

I myself love the board. But I'm confused on the innerworkings. I read almost every topic, but only post when I know I have something that I think is relevant and insightful to say. I guess that strategy worked, as I was a promoted to a member after not posting too much. My question is how did this happen? Did someone suggest me for an upgrade or was it merely that I was around long enough for an obligatory membership?

I guess my question is this: Is there some sort of guide for levels of membership, and a list of what privileges are available at each level, and what it requires to get there?

Figured I would tack this onto this thread...I contributed about two months ago and still have yet to get editing and search privileges...maybe an oversight, I don't know. Emailed Clutch a week or so ago and still have no response. It was just $20 but it did clear my bank acct so I know it was received, just seems a little strange...anybody have a similar experience?

Isn't there a little brilliant space ape in each of us*? Isn't there?

I must rent this "Real Genius." Intriguing. By the way, option C from R2K is the most accurate, snap-shot wise.

* = well, perhaps in some posters, like the OP of this thread, the brilliant space ape is way way deeply buried and hard to find... :(

I'm not totally sure either but i think Clutch just goes in waves of upgrading people. When i was upgraded i noticed alot of other former rookies had gotten upgraded around the same time. If someone has alot of crappy posts i think their either left as a rookie or demoted to one. It doesn't seem like theirs really a set road to getting upgraded. Its probably for the better anyway.
