The media is reporting on it because he is probably the greatest baseball pitcher of the last 40+ years.

If you have a problem with media in sports in general...well, I can't really disagree there. I think the media in general has some big issues. That said, this story isn't their "fault".

Here’s something you probably don’t know about Roger Clemens: He’s one of the very few baseball players I know who never cheated on his wife. I was amazed by him, to be honest. His wife should be very proud of him. You see all these other guys- oh, my god, every chance they got, they would be hitting the strip clubs. They would have extra girls staying in the team hotel, one room over from their wives, so they could go back and forth from room to room if they wanted. They would have their choice of women in damn near every city imaginable.

Roger was the exception to that. I went out with him a bunch of times when there were beautiful women around, and he had a lot of opportunities and never took them. I was with him enough times to realize: This man never cheated on his wife. He was one of the rarities, the anomalies, in baseball. I can hardly think of anyone else who never cheated on his wife. I wish I could count myself as an exception, but I can’t.

Don't ever compare the Rangers history to the Astros. It's not even close. There was nothing like going to MMP during those runs in 04 and 05. We care about our team and we've been competitive. Only the Yankees, Red Sox and Braves have a higher win % since 97. The ballpark up there in Arlington is dead night in and night out. There is no fan base. The ushers are rude and I've seen many fat ppl up there past out in CF during the Lone Star Series casue it's soooo hot. Texanskan I remember in 06 when it was 104 on a Friday. I'd rather get swept in the World Series ever year than waking up knowing I was a Ranger fan. In the nicest way possible, I can sum the Rangers franchise in three phases. 1972-1995: Nothing. 1996-1999: Playoffs. 2000-Present: Nothing.

the rangers have rarely kept the season interesting by august 1 in their 40 some-odd year history. they have a grand total of 3 playoff appearances. they are the team that you forget to name when asked to name all the teams in the league. they've never been compelling...never been interesting. they have zero fan presence at their games...and i don't mean that just from an attendance standpoint.
