Definately. And might want to bold young. I hate to say it but they look damn good, at least it's not the Mets though. Pitching staff is thick and the batting order is dangerous. Let's hope we bring our A-Game this series.

Hopefully Sampson can keep up the reverse-Wandy hex: 1-0 with 2.63 ERA on the road, 0-2 with 17.36 ERA at home this year.
With the Backs amazing pitching, we're going to have to play some small ball at some point to win. Looking for our offense to bang out 9,10,11 hit games against them isn't going to happen. The key will be the top 2 in the lineup cause the Big 3 aren't good at starting rallies themselves. Tejada, Berkman and Lee are .265 with no one on but a whopping .359 with guys on the sacks.

Put 'em together and you got yourself a number 2 pitcher behind Oswalt.

Haren looks shaken up too
Ask Wade Miller.
His slow shot-put throwing motion ruined his shoulder. One of the smartest moves the Astros ever made (not giving him a big contract, or offering arbitration).

Bourn now hitting .188 on the season.
rikesh316
04-28-2008, 10:02 PM
Bourn really sucks so far. I don't understand how you can still live him on the top part of the lineup. His defense is great but he should be hitting 8th if you leave him in the lineup.

Qualls vs Berkman... interesting. Who will win?
He still has good stuff.. that sinker is nasty
BrooksBall
04-28-2008, 11:04 PM
Qualls won the battle. He really took it to Berkman.
Qualls has been nothing short of awesome this season. One of only 4 pitchers who has appeared in 12 or more games and has a 0.00 ERA. He hasn't allowed an inherited runner to score, either (3-for-3).
Lidge has a 0.00 ERA in 11 appearances.
Qualls / lidge combo right now would be pretty killer.

Ok, now every single guy in our bullpen has had at least one pretty crappy outing this season.

brocail gets the win. it's strange that there's not more of a set formula to decide that, and it's just left up to the scorekeeper. it's also strange that the starter isnt allowed to get the win in situations like these.

What really matters is the team winning or losing.
Which pitcher gets the wins and losses only matters when it comes to awards and paychecks.

LMAO Jose Cruz Jr. .074 BA that is even worse than Ausmus.
I don't understand why Cruz is still on the team. Surely, we could find a better bat in the minors. We should convince Ausmus to retire and become a bench coach, release Cruz and bring up Quintero and another bat from the minors. Any ideas on a Cruz replacement?

BrooksBall
04-30-2008, 05:20 PM
Bumkowski should be the very last option in our bullpen. Even Moehler should be ahead of him.
Bumkowski should only be brought in when we are losing big or winning big. When I say winning big, I mean at least a 5 run lead.
Better yet, we should just cut his ass and bring in an average, unproven arm from the minors.

04-30-2008, 05:23 PM

it really doesnt, but moehler, borkowski, and villareal do. moehler's long relief, and your long reliever ain't ever gonna be cy young material, so i give him a pass. borkowski and villareal should never be pitching in crucial situations. cooper's an idiot for letting him.

It took all of a few pitches to end the inning with only 1 out. Of course, Pence finished things off with another SO.

Yeah, Blum swinging away on the first pitch with the runner going, just frustrated me to no end. Is there no "take" signs for our hitters?!?
Bourn at second with two shots to drive him in turns into Bourn parked at first to end the inning, frustrating.

No, out bullpen really does suck balls. That means we are way below average compared to the rest of the league. I don't see how anybody can make a case otherwise.
I don't care how good Brocail has looked, he's not going to keep it up. He is an average pitcher, at absolute best. He was average in his prime.
Valverde is the best thing in our pen and he's been shaky this season.
Wright may end up being pretty decent, but he is way too raw to make any real judgment yet.
Geary is probably our second best in the pen and that isn't saying much.
We have a crappy bullpen, overall. And our starting rotation may be worse than the pen.
The only pitchers that will likely be worth keeping for next season are Oswalt, Valverde and Wright. The rest just don't matter.

Who should have pitched there? Keep in mind - you're in the 6th inning. Wright has already pitched, and you've already ruled out three others pitching in close games. Who pitches the rest of the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th innings?

Aww yeah, I should change my sig. I just cancelled the URL like 3 days ago. The site wasn't used much (forums) etc, because everyone just gets on Teamspeak or Ventrillo and talks verbally. So no need to type.

I heard it and my approval rating of Cooper is at an all-time low. He sounds more like a disgruntled fan than a manager. Is that Cooper's temperment as a manager...bitch via the press when things go wrong? Then, he will put Borkowski in again in another situation like this only for it to happen again. Then what? We hear this kind of emotional diatribe yet again...about how it will never happen again. Wow...thanks for the worthless guarantee.
