Man, I remember watching that game. I was pumped. Anyone else remember that?

I remember the game and Ryan never looked back on his way to the greatest strikeout total ever in a career. Carlton was a crafty lefty who had a nasty riding fastball but he just ran out of gas in trying to keep up with Ryan. Of course Ryan was most likely abducted by aliens early in his career and turned him into a machine because for him to have that nasty stuff into his mid 40's is unbelievable. I saw him in his late 40's pitching BP for Brenham college and was still bringing it in the low 90's....incredible.
What made both Ryan and Carlton great was their control and command of their breaking balls. They both could bring it when they needed it but a great changeup or slider can make your fastball look 5-10 mph faster. Considering they both had A+ fastballs already, the breaking stuff made them virtually unstoppable when they were on their game.
