Man has anyone realized how big the site has gotten in the past year?
I finally registered exactly a year ago(Apr 2007) and was member number 22000 or something like that. Now i see rookies with join dates of April 2008 and they are member 32000 or something like that. That's nearly 10000 new members in a year!
I don't blame the source of this on Chinese fans because Chinese fans all shouldve came around 02-03, or at least the bulk of them shouldve came by then. I blame it on all the worthless band-wagoners that have joined recently with all of our new acquisitions in the summer and the 22 game win streak. This surplus of generally uneducated fans is the primary cause in what has made the GARM a cluttered mess (Poor tinman is going ballistic these days trying to educate all the newcomers). It doesn't help that Clutchfans has been getting publicity from media outlets such as Sports Illustrated and other local broadcasts.
I really don't know where I'm going with this but I just wanted to see if there was anything we could do about this problem, (especially in the GARM) like tinmans suggestion of a Rockets exam. Of course there are always some good new members and they have the right to join in what is now recognized as the best basketball forum in the nation.
To the people who suggest more moderators, I doubt that is possible because I'm assuming a moderator has to be:
A. A good trusted friend of Clutch
B. Level headed, not tempered(so he wont be trigger happy on bans)
C. Plus being a moderator takes up a huge amount of a person's time, almost like a second job.
P.S. Does anyone know if one can contribute to this site by credit card? I don't have paypal and sending in checks is not an option for me :(
And i tried my best on spelling and grammar for y'all.

Yes poor tinman.
I feel so bad that tinman has to take so much of his valuable time to scream at a bunch of a kids about the greatness of Kenny Smith.
Clutch has already addressed this before, and he's seen all these types of suggestions countless times. If he thought there was an easier way I'm sure he'd have done it by now.

Yeah, you can. That's how I've been contributing. Just make sure you put your username in the item box so Clutch will know who it's coming from.

Don't worry, the bandwagoners will eventually leave and the good ones will stay.

this board could easily have 50,000+ if he left registration open. and with the rookie status in place, many of the new users won't be around for long.

Great post armyman. And I'm glab that you're wanting to contribute to this great site, something that I haven't done yet. BUT my name is still way cooler than yours, whatever it might be...

buddy, the GARM was becoming a "cluttered mess" before you joined. So I don't know that the recent growth was the cause. Regardless, you're worried about tinman trying to educate people??
moes, weird that you commented saying Clutch has seen this countless times when you just suggested Hayesfan as a new moderator...unless I saw a really old post whenever I read that.

If you read that post carefully you'll see that I did not suggest anyone to be a "moderator" per se. It was more of a suggestion that either Hayesfan or a committee of sorts (made up of respected and reputable BBS members) could handle some of the work associated with monitoring the progress of the rookies.

ive been here a lot longer than my registration states. I just decided to finally join last year.
I used to enjoy reading the GARM last year, it would always be the first forum i went to. Nowadays i go the the hangout instead because of the lack of quality threads within the GARM. The GARM seems to look like an East Coast fans board or a kobe loving board.
And ppl the tinman reference was just a joke lol. Im sorry i didnt put a smiley to show my sarcasm in the original post.

I will take a Rockets exam. It can only cover the time I have been alive though.

Don't hold your breath.
I can only recall one time in this boards history that nicks got changed(for a bet)
You have no history using that name, just drop the account and make a new one if you arent happy with your nick.
trust me, if there was a easy way to change nicks, I would have done so a LONG time ago.

This site was referenced on Fox Sports Radio (Andrew Sicciliano show with that one hot chick Kristen Fernandez). She said that she is always at Clutchfans and they were talking about the Rockets' players imitating Deke.

You ought to follow R2K's suggestion. You've only got about 30 posts, so it isn't like you would be losing a big post count, if you care about that.
