I know it's part of Colangelo's strategy to go euro since Americans tend to bolt from Canada at their first chance. But what they need to start doing is
grabbing Argentinians! I'm sure they could get a hold of Walter Hermann and maybe even Andres Nocioni for the right package. Argentinians play harder than any foreign players I can think of. Tough as nails, all of em'! See Manu, Scola, Oberto, Nocioni, Hermann, etc etc.
Oh, and if they want to start by prying Luis Scola from the Rockets, I will accept Chris Bosh in an even swap.

I guarantee you more people would want to play in Toronto rather than San Antonio, Orlando (small markets) if the franchise was solid. When Vince Carter was there, they had plenty of good players. THey had Oakley, Keon Clark, Antonio Davis, Doug Christie. Those are veteran American players.

Their soft as baby skin roster is a problem too.

THey had Oakley, Keon Clark, Antonio Davis, Doug Christie. Those are veteran American players.I don't think any of those players came via free agent signing. The best free agent (most high profile) the Raptors have gotten in team history would probably have been Mark Jackson who had just played in the Finals with Indiana.
Other than that, there is nothing pleasing about Canada. Sure, crime rate is lower, but it's belowing freezing pretty much for the duration of the NBA season, the taxes are very high and goes towards welfare, health care that these athletes won't benefit from.
The Euro route was the best one that Colangelo could have taken. To a European player like Garbajosa, Canada and the US are the same thing.

outside of LA, NY, and maybe Miami and Dallas, most teams don't get FAs on city rep at all.

Paul Westhead...but we all get it confused.
I can't imagine any coach in his 1st or 2nd year coaching letting the opposing team's player score 81 on them and keeping his job, let alone a Coach of the Year award. But it was KOBE(!) that did it, so it was okay. Cuz Kobe likes to shoot and score.

168 at the final, i guess one point short of the nba record, friggin' amazing considering the pace of the game when the original record was set.
on a side note, the sonics defense is just unbelievably bad. and they exacerbate it by playing at a fast pace for some reason.

168-116. What a crazy score. But when you have guys like J.R. Smith, Kleiza and Chucky Atkins coming off the bench who can continue lighting up the other team in garbage time, something like this can happen. Too bad it still counts as only one win and the Nugs still won't make the playoffs unless something crazy happens to the Warriors, Mavs or Jazz. Playoffs or not, a game like this is a nice gift for the home crowd.
What is the NBA record for total assists by a team? The Nugs assisted on 44 of their 61 FGs.

I stopped watching the Sonics a few weeks ago. I'm a huge KD fan but it isn't worth the time because Sonics games are horrific to watch, mainly because of the fast pace and sorry defense you mention. Hopefully Carlesimo gets fired after next season and they bring someone in who actually coaches the players.

Kevin Durant wins basketball games! He should be R.O.Y.
I remember one game in the Dominique Wilkins era when Atlanta scored 90 points in the first half, but they didn't come close to finishing with 168 points
There was that one famous game that ended 169-147. Wilt scored 100 points in that one.

if you don't think they play defense then you know nothing of numbers and statistics. they're 6th right now in defensive efficiency. playing at a fast pace doesn't equal bad defense. they're not the greatest defense ever, but their offense is relatively worse than their defense. if their offense was as good as their D, they'd be a legitimate contender and probably a top 3 seed.
i think the sonics offensive efficiency was a little below 100 points per 100 possessions tonight, which is pretty low. denver's was something stratospheric like 141 points per 100 possessions. so they did well on both counts tonight, but usually it's the D that's better than the O, most fans just can't notice b/c they only notice points scored.
