If and I mean If the rockets go on to win the NBA Finals this year does Yao Ming get a ring? and is he considered an NBA Champion? No offense to Yao but if he doesnt play how is he an NBA Champion. anyways just a thought.

why do ppl suddenly have championship aspirations all of a sudden?
this team will make te playoffs, but getting out of the first round will be very tough unless we get a favorable matchup.
and yes, yao will get a ring b/c he's part of the team.

If he's part of the 12 man active squad going into the playoffs, then he'll get a ring.
Everyone in the organization gets a ring. The players, the upper staff, the coaching staff, the owner and even players at the end of the bench who barely play or will play but not the players Rockets drafted and are playing in different league around the world and/or are in D league during the post season games.
Basically all the active members of the organization

i coulda swore even bill worrell, calvin, jim and gene all have rings too. so its everyone in the rockets organization.

He gets and deserves a ring because he will be PART of a championship TEAM.
Key words being part and team.
I am amazed at how quickly fans forget that he has helped us out the in games we have won so far sans the Wizards game.
Come on people! What is going on here? Every time one of our players get injured, are we going to want to throw him away like a piece of trash?

Of course he will get a ring, he deserves it, but only if the Rockets won the title!
What's with all these "what if" threads lately.
Is it simply a thing that Yao haters on this board can finally come out now that Yao is going to miss the rest of the season?

It's so crazy. They go from "Brooksball's Playoffs! No Way!!" thread to "What if we win it all without Yao" threads? They are wacking for thinking that Yao's injury suddenly makes us the team to beat, suddenly.

why not? He contributed in the regular season, which is an integral part of making the playoff, in unlikely event of Rockets win it all.

I think its a valid question. The entire season is 8 months, not just the 2 months of the playoffs. If Rockets win, of course he gets and deserves a ring. Had he been traded (this is purely hypothetical, just an example), he would not get a ring. But why? Either way he's played half the season and left a mark on the team.

If Rox win the championship, Yao will get a ring.
BTW, if Rox make conference final, probably Yao will be able to get back on court. Today Yao said he will start training in 12 weeks.

Even a fan can receive a championship ring too. This happened in 2004, when the pistons won the NBA Championship.
Last year, a total of 21 rings were presented to players and couches. In 2004, some rings were presented to the management as well, in addition to the players and couches, and a fan!

You know as crazy and idiotic it sounds, if the Rockets were to some how reach WCFs...I could see the number 11 back on the court....if somehow we ended up against the Denver, GSW, NO or even Phoenix. And facing the Lakers, Jazz, or Spurs in the finals.....
Because as even the season is not even over with yet.....there are still two months of regular season basketball to be played. That is already 10 weeks right there...if he has surgery this week.
He definitely missed the 1st Round.....then comes the big question can come back and stay health and guide the team through the playoffs.
I'm one of those crazy fans who believe the Rockets could win 1st round series with this current roster. If we avoid the usually S.A. and Dallas, while we could definitely give the Suns or Jazz a series and probably beat NO.
