It may be crazy to say but I think the Texans can win this one! First prime time appearance (sort of) in two years. The fan populace in Houston definitely energized by a "heart of a champion" effort vs TB on Sunday. Need AJ to be in prime time form and lets see if Darius Walker can have a breakout game for us on the ground. Mario can REALLY get noticed with a big time game Thursday night.
Texans 27, Broncs 23. Texans get some respect points going into next season.
Battle Red PANTS?
****, we're going to win by like 60 points.
I'd like to see a red pant white top combo.

That's what I was wondering. I keep seeing ads for this game on NFL network.
Surely ABC will show the game, since they are (apparently) the “official station of the Houston Texans” even though all they do is show the preseason games and a lame wrap-up show on Sunday nights. Is this game on TV or not???
No Worries

it's a better looking red and yes the blue helmet makes all the difference because red on red on red is too much.

The Kansas City Chiefs would agree with you.
Also, the game is going to be on Channel 4 (KTXH 20) on Comcast Cable. They have been running ads for it all week.
The City of Houston is going to be dying all the fountains in the city red as a celebration of Battle Red Day, and the stadium lights will be red throughout player intros and the National Anthem, up until kickoff. The Texans players will be wearing Battle Red jerseys with matching Battle Red pants (go to houstontexans.com if you want to see AJ giving you a staredown while wearing the uni....I think it looks badass). Also, player intros will be done BEFORE the National Anthem, since it's a nationally televised game....so get in your seats early, and be LOUD during the intros. Oh, and don't forget to wear your RED!

Going to a game in Dec. and the team has not be mathematically eliminated yet, that sounds like progress to me! Texans win 24 to 17.

Okoye is so young and is already showing he warranted the pick....potentially a big steal at that.
Remember Mario was hurt with plantar faciatis last year so if you equate that with the youth of Okoye I don't think it's ureasonable for us to believe we have two long time Pro Bowlers on our hands.

If it was last year that would be the case, but Sage is doing it one year too late. I do think that he has too much value to keep now and we will probably trade him for a pretty good pick.

I don't agree, Schaub shouldn't lose his job because he got injured. Schaub has looked really good when healthy and has played a majority of the season without Andre.
As much as I would like to keep Sage, I think we are going to trade him while his value is at his highest.

I like him, but I think Sage has to be traded this offseason. This team can not afford a QB controversy, and they've already invest a lot in Schaub. Add that to the fact that we need picks, and I think Rosenfels is gone by training camp next season.

Exactly. This isn't Madden where money doesn't mean anything and it's not like Schaub played that poorly when he did start with Andre. We are probably going to trade Sage to a team that is rebuilding and needs a QB to man the ship while they groom a young QB.
This is just like the John Kitna and Carson Palmer situation.

Schaub is our franchise QB. Sage is doing great in relief, but once Schaub comes back Sage will go back to being the backup (if he is on the team). We gave up too much to give up on Schaub after one year regardless of how good Sage looks.
I'm a little confused too, Sage had a good game, but it's not like he had an unbelievable game. Our running game and defense was as good as it's been all season and was the reason why we won this game.
I don't want to trade Sage.
Especially within our own division.
Game Summary (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=271213034)
Texans' Williams posts 3½ sacks, smothers Cutler, Broncos
HOUSTON (AP) -- Mario Williams dragged down Jay Cutler for the third time, jumped up and sashayed like a hula dancer.
Last year's No. 1 pick had a career-high 3½ sacks to lead the Houston Texans to a 31-13 victory over the Denver Broncos on Thursday night.
With its seventh of the season, Houston tied the franchise record for victories.
Texans (7-7) fans yelled "overrated" when Williams was picked, but chanted his name Thursday as he posed Superman-like with his hands on his hips for several seconds after he took Cutler down for the second time.
Williams performance made him Houston's career sack leader with 17½. He's had a sack in a team-record five straight games and has 13 for the season and nine in the last five games.
His sack of Cutler forced a fourth down and the Broncos went for it, but the pass fell short, giving Houston the ball.
Ron Dayne, who didn't start because of a sore ankle, scored on a 6-yard run on the ensuing drive to push Houston's lead to 17-6. The Texans all seemed amped up for the their first prime time game since 2005 and their first game with the roof open this season.
The normally subdued Dayne, who won the Heisman Trophy in 1999, celebrated his touchdown by striking the Heisman pose.
The Broncos got their second straight big game from receiver Brandon Marshall, who finished with 11 receptions for 107 yards.

You have to think about it in realistic terms. Next year Sage will be entering the final year of his contract. We've already invested a ton of money and picks in Schaub, we're NOT going to resign Rosenfels. Do you want him to walk at the end of next season and get nothing in return? The bottom line is Schaub is the starting QB of the Texans, if he's healthy, whether you want to believe it or not. It's better to get a draft pick we need this offseason as opposed to letting him walk for nothing next season.

Regarding Sage, he's playing great. I wouldnt mind trading the guy if Schaub could stay on the field. If this is a consistent theme, then the Texans NEED a backup that is capable like Sage.

I meant far more high points than just Andre Johnson. We have a promising young defense, a great receiving core, two good QBs, possibly some good RB play. Andre Davis/Jerome Mathis (if healthy) next year could be a great special team duo.

Huh! Try next year, dude! M&M brothers going double digits in sacks, with a healthy AJ next year, with Mathis next year, and with Jacoby healed up and Schauby eager to redeem himself in his sophomore season? The Texans made a statement with this game tonite. Primetime, all the pressure, all the injuries, all the excuses, all the naysayers ... and at the end of the night, the Texans playing their SECOND consecutive playoff-like game and not only winning but, dominating their competition. Mario is now SECOND in the AFC in sacks! In his second season! Bush and VY? They still trying to figure out their game. :p TB and Den were beaten 59-27. Imagine if for a second what would have happened this year if AJ would have been healthy all this season? We would have at least 2 or 3 more wins. AT LEAST!
Your compliment albeit backhanded is noted and given the traditional golf clap. :p
Do keep drumming to us about the Titans balling! They looked rather pedestrian to me vs SD in a game that REALLY mattered for them and their playoff hopes! Perhaps, they will once again be primed for meltdown city in KC this weekend with an extra helping or two of Jared Allen in VY's grill! :D

You make alot of sense, RF007! We need to get value in this context. Unlike Carr, Rosenfels potentially would at least garner a third possibly a second round pick return. You know get back that second we previously gave up for Schauby. :p
I feel alot more confident about our team getting voluminously better next year with another profitable draft for the Texans! :D

No he doesn't think. He's a primadonna, though talented his talent is gilded because he generally takes away more with his attitude than he brings to a team. Probably a good reason why he has had little playoff success.
What? The Texans? Playoffs? We're talkin' about playoffs? :p
Hard to believe that we ARE right there on the cusp of getting in. Whether we do or not, it's gonna be a fun ride to the finish. :D

Such a strange team. One week you watch and it looks like they have massive holes and shortcomings...then you watch that game last night and they look solid all the way around. I guess that's the state of the NFL today. But it seems to me there's lots of reasons to be excited about this team.

I may be in the extreme minority here, but the UNITARD look is soooooo lame.
The only way matching jerseys/pants look good is in white. The red/red was awful on the field. I really liked the red jerseys when combined with the white pants, but, along with the red-topped socks, it looked like they were wearing unitard CAPRI pants. Weak...
Funny enough, I was watching the game with a Cowboys fan and a Broncos (semi)fan and they both kept getting confused in the first half -- thinking the Broncos were the Texans.
Great game, by the way. Too bad we don't get to play defenses that schit+y every week. Mario should make the Pro Bowl...

Broncos and Cutler in particular struggle to be consistent on drives. Less bone head plays from Cutler and it could have been a close game.
Sage had a very good game, especially in the fourth quarter. If Sage continues to play well and stays healthy, Schaub will be the league's highest paid backup QB next year.
The biggest winner from the game is Kubiak. He beat his master ;) (though owner Bob McNair might be wondering if the Denver system is still the one to run with). The Texans also now are guaranteed to have a better record than last year, even with all of the injuries. Kubiak will likely keep his job and have one more year to get the Texans to a winning season.
