If I understand correctly, OU beat UT in head-to-head, so even if both finish 10-2 with conference play, OU gets to go.
OU would be 5-3 in conference play with losses to Colorado, Tech, and Okie State while Texas (assuming they beat A&M on Friday) would finish conference play 6-2 (losses to K-State and OU). Thus Texas would be in the Big XII Title game. It's still a long-shot but at least it looks like after tonight they are still alive. Oh, and by the way I find it ironic how Gooners were practically celebrating Dixon's injury and Oregon's subsequent upset loss to Arizona on Thursday. Now the landthieves find themselves in the same situation losing Bradford in the beginning of the game and being knocked out of the National Title picture.
Longhorn fans, We Cowboy fans would like nothing better than to see you in the Big XII championship game. Good luck against the Aggies and root for us against the Land Thieves on Friday.
If OSU beats OU, and A&M beats UT, then UT/OU/OSU all are 5-3. Each is 1-1 against the others, and each has 1 loss to a north team. Who wins the division? Anyone know what the next tiebreaker would be?
According to this: http://www.star-telegram.com/college_sports/story/284303.html A tie involving three or more teams is more complicated, with seven potential steps. Realistically, the tie should be broken within the first four steps. In order, they are: (1) Comparisons of the round-robin records of games played between the co-champs; (2) comparisons of the co-champs' records within their division; (3) comparison of the co-champs' records against the next-highest placed division opponents; (4) comparison of the co-champs' records against all common conference opponents. Once the tie is whittled to two teams after any step, the head-to-head tiebreaker between those schools determines the title-game participant. 1. They would all be 1-1. 2. Each team would be 4-2 in the South. 3. Tech & A&M would be tied for 4th at 4-4. Each team would be 1-1 against them. 4. There's no common north opponent that all three teams played (I'm not sure how this really works). The article doesn't say what tiebreakers 5-7 are.
If the Big 12 South winner beats Missouri/Kansas, who will play LSU? And what if LSU also loses the SEC title game? Ohio State vs. West Virginia anyone?
Texas: Win its remaining games and Oklahoma loses twice. Tiebreakers work against Texas because of the 28-21 loss to the Sooners. http://www.star-telegram.com/college_sports/story/284303.htm
