I laughed hard.

I was an obvious setup episode.

I still enjoyed it, but it didn't have near the laugh out loud moments.

Hopefully the 1 hour finale will not disappoint.

yea, not that good..

best parts imo:

kevin talking about how hes going to turn oscars petty cash into next months rent

creeds line when hes on the phone with angela talking about how they're going to split.

Yeah, pretty weak episode, but Andy had me rolling as usual hitting 1200 golf balls the night before and then trying to drink his beer hahaha! I also thought it was hilarious when he drove the golf cart in the sandtrap.

Also, it seems like every episode now has an incredibly awkward Michael moment that makes me cringe so badly I would almost rather not watch it.

They really are making Michael almost too nonsensical. Its gotten to the point you assume that he's completely out of touch with reality and will do the most socially/professionally unacceptable thing every time.

Very true, however, I think what they showed us last week makes it seem like Michael is putting it on for us. When he thought no cameras were around while confronting Stanley, he actually seemed quite normal. Well, at least in that Stanley had to respect him because he was his boss. And although it was as awkward, it seems as normal as Michael can be.

I agree with the sentiments above - this was not a good episode. It had its moments with Andy and Creed, who always make me laugh, but the finale is all set up now. Great tension between Dwight and Angela.

I agree 100%. Michael is putting on an act for the cameras. When he doesn't know they're there you see pieces of the real Michael. You see a bit of it in the "I'd never say this to her face" line about Pam.

Very lame episode. I thought the group was going to come back to the office and find Dwight doing Angela, or at least making out with her.

The two best lines were Kelly saying Daryl is her "Obama" and Michael telling the intern candidate that Pam would "do" him. She's already been with two other guys in the office.

A set up episode is not an excuse for lameness. The writers should be ashamed.

it was an ok episode for me the highlight was Kevin and his obsession with gambling. I was rolling as soon as he started naming off all the games that they were going to play.

I have seen episodes i have liked less it had it moments Andy with his blisters and pumping in the aloe into his gloves was awesome

I liked it, too. There were a lot of great lines. I think some people aren't satisfied unless they're on the ground laughing all episode.

Great lines:

- Michael: Today I am headed over to the job fair at Valleyview high school to find some new interns. Get some fresh blood. Um, euthanize this place.
- Creed: Hiya Pumpkin, it's Creed. So we're gonna ditch this bitch. You in?
- Darryl: What college did you goto Mike?
- Kevin: What are we talking? Skins? Acee Deucee? Bingo Bango Bongo? Sandies? Barkies? Wolf? What?
- Michael: You can do whatever you wanna do. You can be a classy janitor or a cashier with dignity. Or a... migraine worker.
- Michael (in response to Pam's "Are you serious?"): Yes. And don't call me Shirley.

Wasn't the best but hardly horrible either. The golf cart thing nearly had me spit up my drink. Pam was awesome in this episode, esp. when she gets the single sheet of paper from the copier and shows it to the camera, just something about it cracked me up.

So, I guess next season Pam will be out of the office living in Philly more likely NYC working god knows where while taking her adult education classes and Jim will be against it and stays behind but eventually starts working towards taking Ryan's job so that he can move to NYC and reunite with her.

Just started watching the deleted scenes:

EDIT: Looks like only one deleted scene, nothing special, then it kicked into last weeks.

Got all the DVDs, watched every deleted scene from all seasons, and saw every episode this season so far. Yes, sucked and "the writers should be ashamed" is definitely extreme. It's like saying "Rafer Alston sucks"- sure, it's one's opinion, but it's a little over-the-top, don't you think?

You know, even a weak episode of The Office is still better than a lot of the best episodes of many other shows.

It doesn't have to be hysterically funny every week, as long as the characters are compelling I'll continue to watch.

Agreed on that point...I just like him when he's really lame and douchey, as opposed to bleeding out of different body parts or flying off of golf carts. (which I'll admit, did garner a laugh from me)

They're actually starting to make me feel bad for his character, as he's getting shat on week after week.

Oh god the Kevin and Holly dynamic is hilarious. I can totally see Kevin making a move on her in season 5 and Holly reacting to it as if Kevin's a r-tard. Something along the lines of:

Kevin: I really like you. *leans in*

*zoom in on Kevin's confused yet pleased face*

I thought this, in whole, was an awful season. It was awkward as the office always is, but it wasn't funny awkward, it was painful awkward. When Stanley yelled at Michael, the dinner party blowup, the blind date at the coffee shop; these are all examples of times when I wasn't laughing, I just felt bad and did not want to watch the tv anymore. I literally had to cover my eyes and only listen because it was so bad.

Old school office was funny awkward. The Jamaica picture with Pam, cultural day, gay witch hunt; all examples of awkward situations that were still pretty good natured and did not evoke so much damn negative emotion.

With all my complaints with the season as a whole, last night's episode was excellent. When the new girl thought Kevin was retarded, that was incredible. The Toby exit interview was bordering on painful awkward, and then the rock said "suck on this". I almost **** myself.

Great episode last night. I think the hour longs really give time for the whole episode to not be plot/awkward driven and get to add in some funny moments that made the Office so great in the beginning.

Michael getting ryan's job would open up a whole new world of possibilities of dumb things he can do in nyc.

I really doubt they would pull michael, the boss, away from his office. The whole premise of the show was to have a group of workers deal with an idiotic boss. Him leaving is doubtful.

I do see Karen taking Ryan's job and really pushing jim/pam around. Not to mention Pam will be in nyc for school, alot of more "akward moments" are in the foreseeable future. But I think Karen's hot and yeah, its a pipe dream to see her more in the next season.

I think it'd be a much funnier situation for Ryan to get demoted back to his old position and have to work under Micheal and Jim. And then for Micheal to take it upon himself to "save" Ryan and try to take him under his wing again.

I also hope they resolve this whole Jim/Pam proposal thing. And honestly, if I was in Jim's situation, I'd find some other way to propose to her that night. But then I would never propose to her in the middle of a large gathering. He should have taken her somewhere private as the fireworks were concluding...instead of taking out the engagement ring as he was sitting in a lawn chair.

I also didn't like how they brought back Jan. I was enjoying the Micheal/Holly budding relationship. It might have been funnier if they brought back Jan, pregnant, wanting Micheal back, but Micheal rejecting her in favor of Holly...and then Jan making their lives a living hell.

The Kevin/Holly gag is genius. As was the Dwight/Angela cliffhanger. All in all good episode. Same with Earl too.

Whoever predicted that Karen gets the job vacancy that Ryan will leave is a genius. I bet that is EXACTLY what they do. They ran the Pam/Jim thing all season with everyone waiting to see what would screw that up...and nothing. I doubt they do the same next year, and Karen re-entering the picture is the best way to screw that up.

I don't understand why everyone thinks that the writers will end up messing around with Jim and Pam, by repeatedly breaking them up and getting them back together again. I sincerely hope they don't bother with such a tired, worn-out soup opera cliche.

Except Rashida Jones (karen) left the show because she's in another show, Unhitched.

You don't have to break them up and bring them back together again to create conflict. And while I agree that the constant breaking up and getting back together is cliche, I'm sure the writers aren't going to write another season without having some kind of conflict interrupting the Jim/Pam bubble of happiness.

Well, the plot and the story arc are what allow for the various comedic elements to be delivered. So yeah, it matters. If the plot included Daryl being killed by warehouse machinery, I have a problem with that because everything he says and does is pure gold.

I think after the season finale that it'll be Andy. He seems like the kind of character you could base a show around moreso than Toby.

Andy was the first character I was thinking of as well but it seems like they just started a plot thread with him and Toby leaving seemed pretty quick, just in my opinion at least.

I think they could have one Office episode where the fling is revealed, Andy is devastated and moves on. Then Bingo, you have a spin-off!

I hear you, think it's debuting mid season, the spin off, so they could move Andy on pretty quickly once he finds out about the affair.

IMO the most logical way to setup the spin-off is to have Angela dump Andy, and then have Andy transferring to Utica and working for Karen.

I knew there was a thread around about season 5. But when I searched (google) for it, this one came up. I only realized that this was the old thread afterwards. Anyway, I'm excited about this thursday. Too bad I'll be working thursday night.
