Holy Sweet Merciful Mother of ****sticks. Why did I not watch this show sooner?

I started a couple days ago and I'm almost to Season 3.

I'm addicted.

NEED MORE EPISODES NOW.

I came to The Office late as well. It's the best thing I've seen on TV since Arrested Development.
I cannot wait for the new episodes. I still haven't seen any of "Season 4."

I also joined late, and only saw BASKETBALL in the first season and found it funny, but wasn't addicted. Then I caught up. Now I own the "Best Employee of the Year" the office cup and much memoribillia.

moes, do you work in an office? If no, then it is admirable that you find it funny. 3. Andy will quit once he realizes that Angela and Dwight had a relationship before him.IF this becomes true and ree-ee-ee-Andy the 'Nard Dog isn't in the show anymore, sir, I will be ready to fight you.

Maybe my sense of humor is elevated above everyone else's that I am actually able to enjoy the humor of a show that is set in a place I have no particular common bond with. I guess You don't find Scrubs funny because you don't work in Hospital.

I guess You don't find Scrubs funny because you don't work in Hospital. You make a good point. I will respond to your sarcastic comment to my simple yes or no question:

Beginning with "The Wonder Years", I've always enjoyed comedies without a live audience. Scrubs is good, I take nothing away from that... those writers and those actors are awesome. I especially like their token-white-guy-with-a-black-guy-as-a-friend comedy. It's comedy. It's good.

You could have just said "No, I don't work in an office, but I really like the show... 'cuz I know FUNNY" instead of answering smart-ass... it's the freakin' HANGOUT here, not the D&D... and THE OFFICE rules.

You know darn well it is funny MOSTLY to office peeps, and to many non-office peeps. That was the reasoning to my simple question. Dude, relax... no need to say your comedy level is higher... we all know that.

The thing about any TV show including The Office that makes it so good, is if the audience can relate to its characters. During the first 2 seasons I could relate a lot to Jim, since he was going through a forbidden office relationship, like I have before. But lately I relate more with Dwight, my new favorite character. It's funny how Dwight started out as an annoying character but now has ended up likable. Angela's character has started to grow on me to.

So which character do you relate to more?

You are begging for a bitch slapping.

I read something about the rest of the season in Entertainment Weekly.

i don't know about the very favorite, but one of my favorites has to the "Performace Review"

The scene with Michael and Jan in Michael's office is one of the funniest ever. When Michael says "bam, bam, thank you ma'am". Actually in that episode all of Michael and Jan conversations are hilarious. Later on Michael says something like, "Having an extra office key is illegal, just as breaking a man's heart is" :D

NEW YORK – April 2, 2008 - NBC announced today that the most coveted time period of the coming season, the post Super Bowl slot, will be used to launch a spinoff of the network's hit comedy series, "The Office." Immediately following NBC Sports' coverage of Super Bowl XLIII, the network will first present an original episode of "The Office," followed by the debut of the new Greg Daniels comedy. The Super Bowl has been perennially the biggest television event of the broadcast season and was watched this year by a total audience of more than 148 million viewers. Giving this new series that coveted premiere slot will afford the show tremendous sampling from all demographic groups.

Greg Daniels, Executive Producer of "The Office," said, "Who would have ever thought that Americans would be subjected to a mock-documentary after the Superbowl? What has happened to this country?"

From Greg Daniels, the Executive Producer of the Emmy Award-winning American version of NBC's "The Office," comes the most highly anticipated comedy of the season in "The Office" spinoff. Audiences will follow another comic journey, complete with new faces and new locations, but with the same unique sense of humor and brand of quality from Daniels and his creative team. It's the next chapter of what viewers have come to know and love about "The Office."

I give it an 8... creativity, but lost points on continuity. Also, missing is an interview-type scene with Dwight alone in the office, dressed in Lakawana County Sheriff gear.

You know whats so great about this post, is that after I typed that up I actually thought to myself "Now we wait until Swoly comes in and critiques it and adds something to try and make it better than mine, to prove to everyone that he is the authority on The Office and nobody else can understand it like him."

Just watched another season 2 episode, The Carpet. I almost forgot how funny that episode was. It was comedy, mystery and drama all wrapped in a 22 minute episode. 10/10

At this point it seemed like season 2 was getting better and better. First there was The Client, then every episode after that was brilliant (exept a few).

BTW I think the series has lost some of it's spark because of the whole Pam and Jim getting together now, but I still can't wait till thursday...

Some great lines, but I found the whole show kind of depressing. I think it would have been funnier if Michael and Jan had started making out and grossing people out instead of arguing. Maybe Jan suggesting the Michael that they try to make it a swingers party.

It was kind of sad the worse it got, but at the end you see Jan gluing the Dundee back together, so you know she cares.

I can't stop laughing at Jan dancing to the song by her former assistant. Did they ever show if they had hooked up or are we just to assume that based on the song?

Jan: You know Pam, in Spain, they don't even start eating until after midnight.

Michael: When in Rome...

It was never implied that they hooked up, but definitely implied that she had a thing for him. The song probably makes it more likely.

I thought it was a good overall episode even though it wasn't very Dwight-heavy. Not much plot development (other than Michael and Jan have serious issues) but it was interesting that Angela decided to come out with her relationship with Andy. Thought there was gonna be a riff between Jim and Pam there for a minute but it appears they are good for now. The first big fight is coming though, you can bet on that.

I don't think there was anything bad about Jim and Pam or whatever...he tried to take her with him, he got called out on it...he probably thought it would've been a really funny prank just to leave her there, and then she said the line about "You can always get new stuff, you can't get a new party"...it's like how when Jim couldn't speak in that one jinx episode and Pam volunteered him for a speech. That's just kinda how they banter...

As far as episodes go, it wasn't the most hilarious for me, but it might have topped Gay Witch Hunt as the most awkward episode, which is definitely a good thing...

"Good luck paying me back on your zero dollar a year salary with zero benefits!"

Nice low-key episode. Last week's episode might have been the funniest one all year, but this week's was good too. Nice to see Kevin get some screen-time, and Phyllis trying to pawn off her fat friend was hilarious. The Jim/Pam interaction/screen-time/tone was just right. Just enough to befit their co-starring status, but not too much to overwhelm the show. Although I'd like to see how the show would perform without having the action swirl around Michael, but I suppose that's basically how the show has always operated and isn't likely to change.

Apollo Creed

That could possibly be my favorite episode of the office ever. Everything Michael was saying was pure hilarity gold.

"What's her name, Burger King?"

"I just want to play catch with my son before I'm too old...but before that I need to get laid...and before that I need to be in love"

And of course Oscar Meyer Weiner Lover.

Uncomfortable or not, I thought that "Dinner Party" had more laughs per minute and more big laughs than any other episode in a largely uneven season. Speaking of which, it's a shame that the writers strike torpedoed most of the season. The office tends to hit it's stride at about episode 6-7 and reels off a bunch of excellent eps in a row. Hopefully they finish the season strong.

Completely...

These last 2 episodes have been strangely disturbing. Both very funny in different ways...but disturbing none the less. Are they trying a bit too hard and making Michael too over-the-top? Crying over the death of some model in another town that he saw in a catalog? That was just weird. Not funny. Just weird.

The thing about Phyllis' friend was hilarious.

I think my favorite moments of the episode were when Dwight kept off-handedly (and un-purposely) chipping away at the "dream woman" view Michael had of the chair model lady. First of all recounting everything he went through to find the girl then finally mentioning that she's dead and proceeds to give the grisly details with no emotion. :D

And then the classic at the gravesite:
Michael: She was so innocent
Dwight: Apparently she was stoned
*Michael just ignores the comment or isn't even listening.
Michael: What do I do next?
Dwight: "You wait until next year's chair catalog comes out and you find one that's still alive,"

I personally cannot wait until Ryan gets taken down a notch and sent back to Scranton.

The power tripping makes him even more of a d-bag than he was before.

I like the fact that they are involving the office more than in "Dinner Party". I like the irony of how "Night Out" means THAT for Michael and Dwight, but the complete opposite for the rest of the characters locked in the premises. :D

I also wish they'd reduce the amount of SEX, DRUGS, and OBSCENITIES in the show (see: Hank's and the episode's last line). :( I want to be able to show these episodes to my girls... I guess I'll wait.

"[to the cleaning crew] Nosotros trabajamos aquí. Nos atrancamos. [to Jim] They happened to speak Spanish."

For the gay tirade you threw: They've shown him with his "companion" a few times.

Oscar is CUBAN in real life, and speaks in a CUBAN accent in the show, even though he's MEXICAN? I don't have any beef with that and won't make me stop watching the show... but it just DOESN'T go with the character. Are you kidding me? This show has turned into garbage. I don't know what to think about people who actually enjoy this nonsense. I haven't laughed once this entire season and will no longer be wasting my time watching The Office. It's too awkward and just a drag. I cannot believe how stupid the entire story has gotten. The first 3 seasons were amazing.

Next time quit while you're ahead if you run out of ideas.

And keep making it obvious that Angela is pregnant...

When Toby put his hand on Pam's leg and started caressing it and both Pam and Jim had that wtf?! look on their face, and Toby said he was moving to Costa Rica, ran out of the office and hopped the barbed wire fence...THAT was vintage Office.

When Ryan told Jim to watch his back, but then backpedaled and said he was kidding, and Jim had that look of fear..another great moment.

When he got there at the end to let the gang out of the building but they were gone....when Dwight poured the drink out, Michael calling his mom on his cell...Ryan acting like the s*** when came back to Scranton to discuss the site...all excellent moments. I probably haven't laughed much this season, but then The Office, to me, was never a show that had laugh out loud moments...it is possible for something to be quite funny and engaging, but doesn't necessarily make you laugh.

I guess you don't know that there are different ACCENTS in different Spanish-speaking countries? You know dang well they could have changed that.

Television shows routinely cast actors who aren't exactly like the people they are portraying. The Oscar character is from Mexico, they hired a Cuban actor to portray the character. Normally, this wouldn't make any difference at all, but in this one episode four years into the run of the show, they decided to make a Spanish-speaking joke and instead of sending Oscar Nunez off to speech lessons until he could fake a proper Mexican accent, they decided that the suspension of disbelief would hold for all but three or four people out of the small percentage of viewers who could tell the difference.

EXACTLY! 'Cuz no MEXICANS watch this show! :D

Didn't say that. I said that only three or four people out of the small percentage of people who could tell the difference would care.

The Office is not a top 20 show among Hispanic households, according to Nielson. And they don't break the numbers down into the various Nationalities. So fewer than 500,000 "Hispanics" watch the show, and of that number, there is a smaller number that's from Mexico or of Mexican descent (or from Cuba or of Cuban descent) and of that number, there's an even smaller number who are Spanish-speaking, and of that number, there's an even smaller number who can easily tell the difference between a Mexican and a Cuban accent. And of that number, there's probably only three or four people who care.

I can see it clearly now. They don't give a *****.

It's more like 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the audience doesn't give a s**t.

Holy ****, Swoly. You can be so ****ing irritating. No one is "hung up" on anything except for YOU. You're the only one that gave a **** that the tiny detail of accent was inaccurate! YOU. Not US! Royal Ego made the comparison to Harold and Kumar, which you can argue is not a good analogy (although I would hope you would do so without personal insult...but I guess that is beyond you) and I responded to HIM about my personal experience that was similar. My Mr. Miyagi post had NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU.

I shouldn't even have brought this back up to answer your question since mrpaige already explained this. I figured from your responses to him that you understood that most people wouldn't care.

But I guess anyone that doesn't agree with you or who makes an argument that you feel isn't apt is a dumbass, or a numbnuts. Whatever. That personal insult **** does nothing but tell me how weak your position is. So I'm done discussing this. Especially with you. Go type some more smiley faces.

At any rate, to get the discussion back on track, anyone else predicting that Jim's proposal to Pam will be the season finale? I'm trying to decide where they will go with it. I certainly don't think they will just let the two get happily married. That's not their style. Either Pam says no for some reason...or they find some other way to throw a wrench into the works. I would guess that maybe Ryan will get busted back down to Scranton again because of drugs and that maybe Jim would be offered that position...but they already sort of did that conflict.

This was Dwight's best performance of the year, imo. Him beating down Andy and flipping his Xterra was classic. And Andy's line: "Chick dig guys in Xterra's. I see women driving them all the time." (something like that) was also good.
