NBDL? That's sad. Alexander definitely had/has the look and ability to make it in the NBA. Didn't he put up 17 ppg one year?
Could never hit a three, and wasn't a good enough scorer/slasher to make up for that. Sort of a C+ version of Ron Mercer, and we all know where Ron is now ... EDIT: and, yes, he did have a bad injury (Achilles tear, I believe), but he wasn't really hot stuff to begin with. His only skill was scoring, and he was an average scorer (at best). The 17 ppg came when he was getting a ton of shots for a Wizards team that was tanking and had just bought out Strickland/Richmond and traded Juwan Howard. Nobody else on that team was going to take those shots.
Wikipedia is your friend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Mercer On August 15, 2005, prior to the 2005-06 NBA season, Mercer was waived by the Nets to avoid the NBA's luxury tax as part of the new labor agreement. He did not play for any NBA teams during the 2005-06 or 2006-07 seasons. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Courtney_Alexander Courtney Jason Alexander (born April 27, 1977 in Bridgeport, Connecticut) is an American professional basketball player, formerly in the National Basketball Association. After playing high school basketball at C.E. Jordan High School in Durham, North Carolina, Alexander, a shooting guard, was selected by the Orlando Magic in the 2000 NBA Draft out of Fresno State and the University of Virginia, and his rights were traded to the Dallas Mavericks on the same day. He played for the Mavericks for before being traded during his rookie season to the Washington Wizards where he played until 2002. He was then traded in the offseason to the New Orleans Hornets. A highlight of his career was a 33-point effort for the Wizards against the Toronto Raptors on April 18, 2001[1] when Richard Hamilton was out with injuries. He later signed with the Sacramento Kings but was released before ever playing a game for them. On October 8, 2006, Alexander was signed by the Denver Nuggets[2] after being out of the league for three seasons, but was waived on October 15.[3]
