I don't think that lineup would be that great, for this year.
Lofton has not been as good as he was in the past. I love Cedeno's potential.
Hampton was screwing around with another player's wife. Not quite the team player.
Schilling may never pitch the same again due to his shoulder problems.
Kile was just a bitch that left for $1 million dollars more (most of which and more he lost to the Colorado state tax) and hasn't had a good season since.
I love our team this year. We may not win, probably won't, but hey, we've never won.
That being said, I would have loved that team in 1996.

Hampton was screwing around with another player's wife...
RK95, this is the first time I've heard of that. What was the detail of the rumor or fact?

Instead of Meluesky throw in Brad Ausmus, who became an all star last year.
That would make the entire Astros lineup except Guitty all stars or recent all stars.
And I agree, the Astros have made more than their share of stinkers.

Brahma Rocket, judging from the fact that they couldn't afford to keep Everitt and Hampton, I'm sure they could have afforded that All-Star lineup...

MoonBus,
This was a rumor going around another site, but one that has also been mentioned in The Sporting News.
May or may not be true. But one would have to think that it was Bags' or Biggio's wife if it is true.
