No big deal. He's been dead to me ever since he left the Rockets. For that matter, nearly all ex-Rockets are dead to me the minute they leave. The jersey counts more than the player.

Family don't trade the players that brought them 2 championships after one playoff series.
The rockets have gone down hill since we traded our future for Barkley.

And? Am I the only one who's noticed how close the Spurs are? How much they all like each other? Horry's right; no other team in the NBA does this. Where's the vernon maxwell on the Spurs? It sure as hell ain't Blackjack Bowen; he may be a jerk on the court, but it's not like he abandons his children.

Horry is right. The Rockets are not a classy organization. They ran off ROCKET HEROES Hakeem, Stevie, Rudy, and Calvin.
Spurs are the classiest organization in the NBA and rightful champions! Go Horry! Go Spurs!

wasn't he only here for like 2 years and we tried to trade him twice, stop stamping someone a traitor for such minuscule reasons, sure he won 2 champs..but then again its Robert effin Horry. It's like you saying you love your college and your kindergarten teacher getting pissed that you don't love her more. Sure you had some good times in the K-garten, but you gotta move on.

Horry is also more loyal to the Rockets than they ever were to him. Even though the Rockets dangled him as trade bait for Sean Elliot and Scottie Pippen, he has consistently been a Sun, Sonic, and Jazz killer, from throwing a towel in Danny Ainge's face to leveling Steve Nash with a shoulder block.

I know right. It would have been really tough to win those championships without him. Remember how awesome he played when the trade was rescinded cause of Elliot's health. He was a monster after that and you could see it in his eyes that he was angry but he took it out on the opposing team and not the organization. I will never forget that kind of professionalism and especially from such a young kid back then.

Oh and also, he is kind of the one that originated the high flying athletic shooting PF in 95 when we traded OT. Go back and watch some of those games and you will see why we needed him so bad. He was a great shotblocker back then too and pretty much made the same smart plays that has made him famous.

If the Horry era was so long ago that he doesn't need to massage our egoes every time he opens his mouth, then why do Rockets fans feel a need to canonize him in Rockets history? He's was journeyman, then a San Antonio Spur, and now a dirty player. Horry happened to be blowing through town when the Rockets won their championships. He was a hired mercenary.

I quit liking him when he said something like: It's nice to get out of this dump it to Olajuwon offense. This was right after he was traded. That's the only reason he is any good, he has a big man down low that draw's all the attention and gives him these wide open shots.

Bingo. Houston "fans" expect loyalty when the organization and they themselves do not give it in return. Hypocrites!

Who cares?! What do you expect for him to say? "The Rockets will always be like Fam even though they traded me!" We gutted our Championship team for Charles *freakin* Barkley. There are still a lot of fans today who are upset about that trade. I don't have a problem with him saying that at all.

Always be one of my fav Rockets in my book..
Horry rates the rings (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/4872524.html)
After so many years and so many titles (six), Robert Horry still has a favorite championship and least favorite championship ring.
Both were won with the Rockets.
"My favorite ring is the ugliest ring," Horry said. "That's the year we swept Orlando (1995). I don't wear it because it's too ugly. But that's my favorite championship, my favorite ring. We came from the sixth seed and had to do so many things, had so many obstacles we had to overcome.

My whole point in all of this is not to say that he doesn't prefer the Spurs, but that he's saying it's the only team he's been on (not organization, he said team) where they emphasize closeness and being like a family. I only quoted a few words of the whole thing.
That's bunk. I kept every article from the 1994 and 1995 playoff runs, and he said the same things back then about the Rockets that he's saying now about the Spurs ("we were a tight-knit group, me and Sam are like brothers, etc., etc.). You know, just because you're happy with your situation now, Bob, does not mean you have to say something just for camera value.
If he feels that way, fine. Next time they interview him and ask him about comparing the teams, let's have Dream, Sam, Mario, Otis, and Kenny stand in front of him. Then let him say that. Yeah, that's what I thought.
The coach and organization clearly explained the reason they needed to trade him- they lacked on offense, and both Sean Elliott and Charles Barkley offered way more in that respect than Mr. Horry. Being that he's called himself a role player, even back in 1994, he knows all too well what they were talking about. If trades are a measure of the "family" aspect, then no team is a family, not even the Spurs. Were the Spurs traitors for letting go of Malik Rose? Rasho Nesterovic? Jaren Jackson? Nazi Mohammad? No, of course not. But the Rockets are, right? Geez, some of you act as if we're the only team that trades players or refuses to sign players.
this is the smartest post i've ever read. nice work.
lmao. horry is overrated. i don't have a problem with his comments last night and i appreciate his contribution to the championships but he really does mail it in quite often.

As a former Lakers fan (f**k Kobe), I just want to say that Horry was an awesome presence here in Los Angeles. He never got into all that locker room crap. He was the perfect teammate.
You might remember his clutch shooting, but there's more to Horry than that. He deflects passes, forces turnovers, make key entry passes, and generally instills a sense of calm and confidence even in the most dramatic situations.
The late Chick Hearn always had nothing but high praise for Horry, and that alone is good enough for me.
Oh, and as far as I know, he never bad mouthed Houston when he played for the Lakers.

I don't care how. I don't care how much it costs or what it takes, but
the Rockets need to get Robert Horry on this team as a player or an assistant coach or something.
He's like a good luck charm or he sold his soul to a devil or something, but after this series 8 of the last 10 championships coming for Western Conference teams he has been a part of. Basically, from 93 to 2007 should be called the Horry Dynasty, and we should not fight whatever supernatural forces are allowing it happen or causing it happen.

Yeah but he also took a hard foul in New York and crashed to the floor on his hip. That was a very physical series.

When i saw this on TV, I knew someone was gonna blow up about it. I mean seriously, does it matter? While i do agree that he does really have a career of underachieving and could have been much more successful, he is what he is, and he is a winner. Why does he have to pledge his allegiance to a team that he played for like a decade ago that traded him (and embarrassingly failed trading him as well...). Another thing- he is not a dirty player, hes old school. If Larry Bird played in this day and age, you would be saying the same thing about him. They're just hard-nosed players.

I saw Horry for his Katrina Charity Event and OT (Otis Thorpe for you newbs). OT showing up for Horry's charity event shows that the Rockets of old are still close regardless of whatever Horry says.

My Rockets karma made me run into Walt Williams at the MGM grand.
Also, I was down like 0-2 going to the craps table. Then I came back strong like Clutch City cause some drunk redneck dude got VERNON MAXWELL hot on the
table!
left Vegas with $$$ in my pocket, plus my dinner and breakfast comped!
I like to thank Walt Williams
#42
so get this. I had $20 bucks on the hard 4 (for craps newbies, its the bet that has the dice as 2 and 2, the 'soft' 4 is a 3 and 1). That pays 8 to 1.
It hit!
so #42 = place a bet on '4' and '2' meant that both dice were '2's

Of course Robert horry is a traitor,He must be taken to room 101 and be cured :)
on a serious note,I don't mind that he has won other championships with other teams;nor do I expect him to be loyal, when it was our team who wanted to trade him away a couple of times.
I know it's difficult for some of us...It almost feels like when an ex breaks up with you and one is left wondering who is she with now,and what is she doing...it's human nature to feel deceived, but we must move on.

Tinman, Robert Horry is officially dead.
About San Antonio,
"This is the only team I've ever been on that truly emphasizes being like a family."
Robert Horry, you cease to exist.
Rockets championships = The Jackson 5
Les Alexander = The Jackson's dad

“I just wear two of them,” Horry modestly remarked. “I wear one from the Lakers and one from the Rockets. They’re kind of big and gaudy.
“The Houston team I was on,” Horry said, comparing his current team to his previous dominant squads, “we were just rolling. We just hit the right stride at the right moment."
Definitely a traitor.

Props to original Clutch City member Robert Horry for another ring. This year wasn't his best horry playoff year (1995 Rockets, then that Lakers year when he hit that crap vs the Kings)
when the history books are rewritten, they will see that the 1994 Clutch City had the most character and heart and clutchness of all teams.

Someone who said that he would diss the Dream was wrong. However, I don't like this other statement.
http://www.insidehoops.com/horry-interview-061507.shtml
Q: How does a 19-year-old kid [Tony Parker] come over from France and get three NBA titles and win MVP.
Horry: You have to thank two people Pop [Coach Popovich] and Tim [Duncan]. Pop is the best coach I ever played for and Tim [Duncan] is probably the best power forward I have ever played with. You have to give a lot of credit to those two guys. He [Tony Parker] always led the league with points in the paint and being only 6’2 he’s a great point guard. He is so quick and so crafty that it’s hard to stop him. He’s a great player.
Come on Rob, Rudy instilled the heart of champion in you. That's your best coach!

Saying Duncan is the best PF, sure I understand that one.
How can you say Pop is a better coach? The only reason why Rob Horry is who he is cause Rudy T:
1. drafted him
2. made him play SF first and let him jack up all those 3s
3. made him play PF, but allowed him to still jack up 3s
4. traded him to detroit and made him a better player after he returned to the rox
while fans and media called him lazy and soft etc, Rudy T knew what his strengths were and NEVER tried to make him a point forward like Pippen.
You OWE RUDY T Rob!

In his defense,
1. The Rockets tried and failed to trade him to Detroit
2. The Rockets were in talks to deal him for Pippen during the 94-95 season I believe
3. The Rockets finally traded him to Phoenix for Barkley--the same player and the same team that the Rockets successfully beaten two years in a row.
So I wouldn't doubt he would have some kind of chip on his shoulder with this team. Maybe not with his old teammates like Dream, Sam, or Kenny, but with the organization as a whole maybe.

No big deal. He's been dead to me ever since he left the Rockets. For that matter, nearly all ex-Rockets are dead to me the minute they leave. The jersey counts more than the player.
So Olajuwon is dead to you to huh...

I wanted Dream to have success with Toronto. If you are such a pyscho superfan and rooted against Toronto with Dream somethings wrong with you.
That's like Bulls fans hating on Jordan or Astros fans hating on Nolan Ryan.
The players win championships and bring glory NOT THE UNIFORM or THE OWNER.

I wanted him to teach Kato some moves the hardway! :)
overall success I meant. But booing Dream. NEVER. EVER.
It was sad to see him with the injuries and second fidel to Vince (Softness) Carter. It would have been cool to see an old Dream schooling people in the east.

i'd never boo vernon or say anything negative about his family, either. i wish he'd make some better decisions for himself off the court, though.

i'm sure he's turned his life around like he turned the Rockets down 0-2 from Choke City to Clutch City.
I have faith!
Here's a good story of someone turning their life around.
