The following are a list of guys (in no particular order) who I would love to see in a Rocket uniform. These guys work their butts off and get no respect, no recognition.
*Michael Dickerson
*Theo Ratliff
*Jerome Williams
*Brian Grant
*Ruben Patterson
*Sam Cassell (got left off the ALl-Star squad this year...pathetic)

Theo Ratliff is awesome. It seems no one outside of philly knows about him. Donyell Marshall has been an underated player also. I would love to see him in a rocket uni.

Gary Payton and Kevin Garnett have always been my favorite non-Rockets.
Those guys, like Hakeem used to, often carry the entire team on their backs and will their teams to win.

What, there are non-Rocket players worth mentioning?
Growing up: Vinnie Johnson, Micheal Williams
Now: Abdur-Rahim (by far) and David Wesley
(Can you tell I grew up in a Baylor household?)

Baylor, Class of '79. When I was there, Vinnie came back from summer break with his head shaved. This was long before Jordan made that style popular, so the campus paper asked him why he did it. He said he did it so opposing defenses wouldn't recognize him. Classic.

my top 5 outside the rockets are (in no particular order)
Chris Webber (the guy is playing fantastic this year)
Vince Carter
Sam Cassell
KG
Michael Dickerson

RM95, I bet you didn't go to Baylor. They don't let liberals anywhere near the Baylor campus. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/smile.gif It says so in the admissions catalogue.
Whoops, I better make sure I keep this on-topic.
JJ's my favorite, but I always like when ex-Coogs come home. I'd love to see Bo Outlaw in a Rockets uni. Heck, I think my favorite Rocket from the championship days was probably Carl Herrera.

Kagy, they can even tell by the handwriting. I got my acceptance letter back with stipulation...attend the George F. Will Seminar on Conservativism.

I love all former SWC players, now mostly Big XII players including Rice, UH, SMU, and TCU. Even the Aggies...have they ever had one?

I got by their radar because I was a Young Democrat back then and even wore a Carter/Mondale t-shirt to class. We could have held YD meetings in a phone booth. Thankfully, I outgrew that phase. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/wink.gif

As usual, Cabbage, you pose quite a poser here. But after a lot of careful thought, I am going with:
Chucky Brown
He happens to be the finest basketball player in the history of the NBA. And he is the only player who has a really loyal kick ass fan club who is almost finished with a fresh website (www.chuckybrownfanclub.com)
give 'em hell, cabbage

Growing up: Dr J, Magic Johnson and George Gervin.
Current: Jason Williams, Vince Carter, Kevin Garnett and Bo Outlaw.

Jeff:
Jason Williams?!?! There hasn't been a more overhyped player in the history of the game. For every behind the back pass he throws, there is a turnover. Let's not also forget that he is the worst point guard starting defender in the league. He's all about the show, not the game.

My favorite players are:
Matt Bullard
Juwan Howard
Tony Massenburg
Vin Baker
Matt Maloney
and Jason williams
Why? Because they're getting over on their teams. They all make tons of money (save Williams) without doing a damn thing. Now that's what I call heady players. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/wink.gif

this was really hard for me, b/c of my Charles history...
Scottie Pippen...
The guy's a freaking 4 year old w/ long arms but damn his defensive effort is the most amazing thing I believe I've seen since a certain 30 something rebound effort by Charles once.
(there's a Charles image up in the UL corner while I'm typing... kind of spookey... gotta go)
cabbage: I don't know if you remember, but all those things you used to describe Jason Williams people used to describe Pete Maravich. Yes, the guy makes tons of mistakes, but he is fun to watch and that's why I like him.
For as much as I love to see guys dunk, I don't think there is anything more thrilling to me than a great pass!

Achebe: Agreed. You can't question Scottie's effort out on the court. He's the ultimate team player.
Another guy I love is PJ Brown. Excellent defensive presence. He reminds me of Otis.
At least I'm consistent

Then you must adore Cato. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/biggrin.gif
If he comes back, I'll bet we could find a place to squeeze MJ in. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/cool.gif

Shawn Marion (always rooted for undersized? players)
Chris Webber (longtime fan of his from college)
Allan Houston (see Webber)
Shareef Abdur-Rahim (see Webber)
Alonzo Mourning (see Webber, too bad he can't fight)
Kobe Bryant (just wish he would be himself and not a MJ clone, he's even started to copy his mannerisms)
Allen Iverson (see Marion)
Stephon Marbury (see Marion & Webber)
Kevin Garnett (THE NEXT DREAM, you read it here first, will\has revolutionized the game as Dream did)
Tim Duncan (see Webber & Garnett, not as revolutionary)
Michael Finley (see Marion)
AND FROM THE OLD-SCHOOL:
Fat Lever (except for when he killed, I mean, played against the Rocks)
Adrian Dantley (ultimate Marion)
David Thompson (anybody know where you can get copies of old tapes\highlights of Thompson and Maravich?)
Lewis Lloyd (OK not exactly a non-Rocket, the player I imitated when I learned how to drive, remember how he used to take his steps with the ball over his head and then bank it off the glass?)
Rolando Blackmon, Mark Aguirre, Bernard King, Alex English, Kiki "I'm not a ball-hog, I has an assist ONCE" Vandeweighe http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/smile.gif, Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Kevin McHale, Kevin Johnson, Larry Nance, Ricky Pierce, Jeff Malone, Alvin Robertson,....
As you see, I'm a BIG fan of the NBA as well as the Rockets. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'm not sure, but I think Jenna has left the building, and I don't recall her ever having a liking for Drew. She does like PJ Brown and some flopper who uses Rogaine. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/wink.gif
Hey Pole,
You seem to really have Jason Kidd on your mind after last night's game. Its good to know you haven't wavered your opinion of him as a basketball player because of his setbacks as a husband. I always thought JK was a good, humble guy, and was shocked to hear about his incident with his wife. One thing you have to admitt though, is that he handled the situation with class afterwards. Most athletes would have either denied it or not addressed it, but Kidd acknowledged he had a problem.
He's one of my favs as well; a Point guard couldn't get much purer.

In no particular order....
- Jason Kidd
- Kobe Bryant (I love his game, but it would be nice if he became more of a team player)
- Latrell Sprewell
- Theo Ratliff (I would be MUCH happier if the Rockets had him instead of Cato)
- Tim Duncan
- Michael Dickerson
- Chris Webber
- Tracy McGrady
- Darrell Armstrong
- Rashard Lewis
- Vince Carter

I'll give my non-Rockets favs by position:
C- A.Mourning, B.Grant
PF- C.Webber, T.Duncan, K.Garnett
SF- S.Marion, D.Nowitzki(loving this guy more and more every day), V.Carter,J.Rose
SG- R.Miller(my fav of all the favorites), E.Jones, T.Mcgrady
PG- M.Jackson, S.Marbury, J.Kidd
1 guy I cannot stand is Kobe Bryant. He has great game but he is the most stubborn and selfish player I have ever seen. How could he go against what Phil Jackson is trying to do....the man won 6 rings!!! And he needs to stop trying so hard to be like MJ...I'd like him a little if he was his own player.

Without a doubt, Tim Duncan. He has the total package, offensively and defensively. He is a true class act on the court, doesn't showboat, doesn't attract all the attention like Wallace or Kobe with antics, etc. I still personally think of Duncan as the league's best player, period, and I additionally feel he should get MVP this year.
Others I also like (although can't stand some of these teams): Chris Webber, Latrell Sprewell, Ruben Patterson, Glen Rice, Brian Grant, Vince Carter, Peja Stojakovic, Scot Pollard, Dirk Nowitzki, Donyell Marshall, Ray Allen, Mike Miller, Antawn Jamison, Austin Croshere, Reggie Miller, Antonio Davis, Jason Terry, Dan Majerle, Sean Elliott, Clarence Weatherspoon
Some I can't stand: Kobe Bryant, Rick Fox, Jason Kidd, Bonzi Wells (last two because of personal actions in the last year that I personally find inexcusable)

The incident was not highly publicized with Wells, but I'm not sure why. After one of the Blazers Jazz playoff games last year, he was caught on tape talking about his "plan". He didn't realize he was on tape at the time, but he was talking to a couple of his teammates about how "he and his boys" were going to take out Hornacek after one of the games. I know it sounds like it was a joke, but believe me on this one, he was dead serious. You don't pull that crap in the NBA...
