I was wondering if over the summer the admins and Clutch could come up with a policy spelling out specifically what is allowable and not allowable on the BBS.
We have some smart guys here (I know you are Clutch and Will is a lawyer for Pete's sake) and I think it might help clear up some of the confusion over things like which profanity is banned and the exact definition of a personal attack. Also, consequences should be outlined as well so we know what constitiutes a warning, a ban or anything else (I guess 30 lashes is out of the question http://bbs.clutchcity.net/ubb/smile.gif )
I personally don't have any problems with the BBS as it is, but I believe there to be a growing number of posters who are concerned that they won't be able to speak their minds because they aren't sure just what is exactly ok to say and what isn't. For example, a person may attack a way of life or a group of people, or so it would seem, but not an individual, correct?
I mean, if people can't play nice, perhaps it is time to restrict topics to basketball only and remove the email option so that no one can be personally attacked for their position whatever it may be. I love the BBS and I'd hate to see it shut down or heavily restricted, but I think the only way to make the playing field as level as possible for those of us who want to use it responsibly is to have very specific guidelines about its use. That way, we all feel welcome to state our cases and comfortable with speaking our minds, safe in the knowledge that we know the rules and the consequenses if we violate them.
Thanks, as always, Clutch.
