View Full Version : Should Spanouls/Lucas Go To D-League
Rockets Dynasty

I was just thinking this might be a good idea, to let them start in the backcourt together in D-League and get some experience and consistent playing time. I think this might be smart for a little bit to start the season, barring any injuries of course.

NO i would rather them get famaliar with the current team and get some rubbish minutes
esepcially Vspan, I think he is someone that thrives in high competition...sending him into dleauge will demotivate him, he wont work as hard..for lucas..i am not too sure

D league is for players without a team. No sense to put guys you like down there.
Lucas looks alot better this year.
If you don;t want Vspan on your roster they should have left him in Italy

spanoulis won't benifit from being sent to the D league.
he doesn't need to develop his game much. he already has all the skills to succeed. he needs instruction from JVG and practice with his teammates.

I would rather let Span play first in the D-League.I'm worried about his TO..

Not VSpan, but I am really wondering why the Rockets signed Lucas. Most likely, they are too.

Summer league play remember? He was averaging like 20 points and 7 assists. Sigh, I fear this may be remembered as one of Rockets worst free agent signings, I just hope JLIII will prove me wrong.

I had 6 season tickets to the Toros last year, and have not re-upped this year, BECAUSE.....JVG does not send anyone down to the D-league, he wants them to train under his regime.
Last year, the ONLY player in Austin from the Rockets was Gerald Fitch, and he was only there a week before the Rockets waived him.
Meanwhile other teams sent players down liberally, the Mavs, the Nuggets, the Clippers......
Just not the Rockets.....I am still trying to decide whether I want to get season tickets or just buy them game by game.

Its only 3 years and JLIII can play. It's not like he's Matt Maloney and signed for the next 20 years.
He can add needed depth if/when the injuries start to happen.

Actually, I can think of 2 or 3 point guards right off just since the 90's that we signed to much worse deal. I think it was Moochie and Maloney (it was some white guy anyway). Either way, the Rockets have the luxury of making so many bad signings (Also see Mo Taylor, Cato) that anything they do now won't even make the top 10 worst signings list :D But seriously, it's not like we're paying him a ton, right? I mean the Swift pick up is tougher to swallow (in retrospect) that Lucas' will be, even if he doesn't turn out good.
JLIII sure, why not? One of the most redundant signings this season is Lucas.
VSpan to D-League? Hell no. Anyone who proposes the idea is automatically on my hate list.

What makes this post even funnier is Rockets Dynasty's reputation as the most notorious troll/Rockets homer on the ESPN boards. Heh.

Neither!!
If you want to learn how to play the game the way the NBA plays then you should learn in the NBA not in another league that has its own level and standards, which are not that of the NBA!!!! :)

I don't care what happens to JL3.. but this team is where V belongs. He's really fun to watch, even though he gives out like 15 TO's a game.

lucas probably his problem was from the limited time i saw him play in the preseaon was that he wasnt much of a point guard and took more ill advised shots for himself. having him play down in the d league help him work on setting up teammates and all. vspan has already showed he is a more than willing passer and should be practicing with the rockets all season long to work on his shooting and decision making. i can see vspan because of his toughness become the backup pg this year the second half of the season if he develops a better long range shot and cuts down on the TOs

You are wrong. D-League is also a "minor league" system to the NBA. Two teams are assigned to One team and they both can send their own players there to develop and still keep their rights. I don't think neither should go but it's not exactly a bad idea. Definitely not worth a 1 star thread. V-Span can really benefit from the D-League with lots of playing time as he could get accustomed to the speed of the NBA game. But like someone said earlier, I rather have JVG coaching Kill Bill.

That's my understanding as well. Spanoulis would be burried there and ask to go back to Greece pretty soon. You might as well put him in the bench for the entire season giving him at best 4-5 mins per game. Will be the same thing.
