We better get to Bledsoe or it's going to be a looooong day. Something resembling a running game would be nice too.

I know I got chuckles when I mentioned that the Skins vs the Texans didnt impress me but, you know what had we shown up any at ALL, we could have won that game.
To beat the Cowboys, we must be as relentless getting after Bledsoe as possible. We have to rattle him early and often. We need to force a couple of early 3 and outs and work at grabbing the lead and the momentum.
If the Cowboys had a real QB then I would be very concerned about this game but, as long as we force Drew to win it and not Julius Jones, I think our chances are pretty good.
We also must get better production from our running game. Now, is a big opportunity for Carr to show he's for real. C'mon Davey my boy, gitter done!
Texans 21, Cowboys 16. Boom .... unleash the fury! LOL. :D

DaDa,
I think this is a rhetorical question but Thomas Jones will be going against the Cardinals. I think T.J. will probably have a bigger day than J.J.. :p
Right now if there is a team with basically no weaknesses it's the Bears!

Its pretty obvious that is the Texans D-line can't put Bledsoe on his ass then we're going to get shredded.
Jones will have well over 100 yards.. but the Cowboys O-line ain't good.
Our only hope is Bledsoe brain farts.

The world as we know it (in the Metroplex) will end IF the Texans beat the Cowboys. I seriously doubt this is going to happen, but possible. The Dallas braintrust is staying up nights thinking about this one. They will do everything possible to avoid the biggest PR nightmare in recent team history. If the unthinkable happens, then you will watch a meltdown of nuclear proportions. The pressure is definately on the Cowboys. Major pressure.

Get to Bledsoe, contain the run, we win. Our offense is good enough.
Bledsoe sucks against the pass rush ... we need to be sending an extra guy or two every chance possible, and Mario needs to have an official coming out party. Then as long as we don't allow huge runs we can do it.

Let's hope The Big Tuna (aka Man Boobs) isn't smart enough to run lots of draw plays and/or quick hitting pass plays, since those are the 2 kinds of plays that KILL us. (see Phily, Indy, Washington, and Miami games)

Bledsoe was actually sacked by one of his own O-lineman on one play during the 4th quarter against the Eagles. Funniest thing I've ever seen. :D
Let's hope our defense doesn't sit back in a Cover-2 and let him pick us apart from the pocket. We have to blitz a lot. We can't get to him just rushing 4 D-linemen.

First off the O-line has got to protect Carr from the likes of Demarcus Ware. Secondly, Mario and the rest of the D have to get to Bledsoe. If he has time, TO and Glenn are gonna destroy our secondary.

picked up carr as a free agent in my fantasy league. will not be playing him against this d line. demarcus ware is scary, he's better than dwight freeny imho. I think the texans d line will make a leap and this will be a low scoring game with a lot of sacks. unfortunately, dallas has the better running game which will probably be the difference.

Yes, this is precisely my point! Do you think anyone outside of H-Town is going to pick the Texans? Do you think any pundits will pick the Texans? Nope on both counts. We're a 13 point 'dog again no one even expects us to bother to show up. So just competing in this game would garner brownie points with CBS, ESPN, etc. Yes, the pressure to win this game is ALL on the Cowboys. Big advantage: Texans.
Bottom line, if Dallas just waltzes in and expects to win, the Texans can and WILL beat them. You NEVER underestimate your opponent! if the Cowboys had a real QB, then I would agree they possibly could be a playoff team and would think we would be in real trouble coming into this game. Thankfully, they dont ... Bledsoe needs to be led out to the pasture because he is killing the Cowboys with his lack of execution and poor decision making.
It's hard to be a playoff team though when the Eagles and the Giants are both better than Dallas in their division.
One other thing, Kuby has had 2 weeks to prepare for this game. I think that just may help us a bit. :D
Oh yeah, this just in ... we now have a REAL coach not the previous buffoon we were saddled with.

Yes, I agree. That's why I came unglued after that game. If we even somewhat compete we had a real good shot at winning that game. Yes, hopefully they are on the verge of playing a complete game. I think we have the talent to stay with them. We MUST make Bledsoe beat us though and not J. J.. Otherwise, we ARE screwed.
The offense has to step it up and we must get more than pedestrian yardage on the ground to beat the Cowboys. Carr has a BIG opportunity to shine and show that he's not overrated.
If possible, we need to grab the lead early this will help alot psychologically for us, Dallas is fragmented if we can further cause doubt within their ranks, then this will help immensely towards a potential victory!
All phases though for the Texans have to bring it! Everyone must bring their A game because Dallas has weapons on both sides of the ball that can really punish you.
Mario, you can immortalize yourself in Texans history should you make some game changing plays and sacks in this one! :D
Must get to Bledsoe early and often and Carr has to keep the offense on the field, get first downs and work to get points on every drive.
It's all about keeping Dallas out of rhythm and with a lack of confidence. Keep TO yapping and not catching.

Bledsoe and the Cowboys offense will tear you up if they have time. They have a lot of weapons--Owens, Glenn, Jones, Witten, etc. The Cowboys D is really only susceptible to the deep throw. The also went toe to toe with Phily and JVille at their places, good chances to win both games.
This is not a good time for the Texans to catch the Cowboys (after an angry road loss), I wouldn't take the Texans with the spread.

Some information about our loss to Philly.
We beat them both games last year. They were due.
They look good, but Dallas won the first half, and had a chance to tie it, despite a horrid second.
I am a bit perturbed at some of Bledsoes play so far, but the protection overall (IMO the most important thing) is better. But did get beat up by Philly (Johnson is a brilliant mind as far as the blitz.)
But as Dallas gets a few more games under them, I expect them to have a a strong 12 more games. I do think they will make the playoffs
But Dallas will stomp you guys Sunday, and it probably wont be pretty. We are running the ball right now, and Bledsoe, I expect, will have a bounce back game.

I think the Texans could win this game. The Cowboys are a good football team all the way around, except for QB, which is going to hold them dowm all year. They really should have signed Drew Brees. anyway, I really wish the Cowboys would have won that game in Philly last week, coming off a win like that, they would have been prime for the upset. Now that they have lost, they are gonna take it out on somebody. The whole key to this game is getting after Drew Bledsoe. They need to bring the house all day against him, if we can, we have a good chance to win. The Texans won't be able to run the ball against the Cowboys, but we have shown that we can throw it on anybody, the is what we need to do.
Protect Carr + pressure on Bledsoe = Victory

There isn't pressure on Dallas like their was last week. Maybe fan pressure, but not team pressure. Drew and the Cowboys are very good against lesser teams at home. Where Drew f*cks up is versus pressure defenses and on the road, and this game reflects neither.
Parcels will have the team 3-2 with the NYG at home. That NYG game will have a lot more pressure.

I never said that winning this game was a certainty. My argument is this, Drew has not messed up just one game. He also messed up the J-Ville game and some others as indicative of 5 TD, 7 INT for the season. Bottom line, Drew has lost games for Dallas they should have won and for a seasoned QB to make consistent decisions wreaking devastating consequences that is inexcusable!
No argument here that the Cowboys have ample weapons. Offense: Rivera, TG, TO, JJ and defense: Spears, Ware and a solid LB core.
But you have to admit if things get tough and tight, the Cowboys might start doubting themselves just a little bit. It human nature, its pure psychological.
If the game is on the line and its Carr vs Bledsoe, I'm betting on David.
Finally, Kuby has had 2 weeks to prepare not just one for this game. I just think that also may make a little bit of difference overall.
Granted the Cowboys will be focused to win this one and the fans may not be so laid back as they usually are up there, but it's still possible that Dallas could come in a little overconfident since they are a 13 point favorite.
The pressure I was referring to wasnt necessarily from within the locker room but was instead from the local/national media though TO probably causes his share of headaches. If Dallas doesnt win like in 2002, the fallout from a media favorite plummeting will be even more ginormous! But Dave Campo is no longer coaching the Cowboys, its Big Tuna!
I dont think this game is going to be near the blowout the pundits are picking. I see this game being a dogfight and decided only in the closing moments of the game. Outcome definitely 7 pts or less.
I think this game will be very entertaining and win/lose I think the pundits might accidentally see some incremental improvement with the Texans that they may have to acknowledge much to their chagrin. If they are going to maintain any sort of credibility. We'll see, I wont hold my breath!
Yes, overall our defense sucks until we prove otherwise. Run defense better get alot better this week, and our cover guys better bring their A+ game because TG and TO plus Whitten at TE, all 3 can burn in the secondary. Pass rush must be consistent for us to have a chance in this one.
The only way the Texans can win this one is force Drew to make plays and not JJ with the game on the line. That's the way I see it.

FWIW, I've been more concerned with the play of the O-line against the Eagles (and partly the Jags) than the play of Bledsoe. Bledsoe obviously made some mistakes that cost us both games, but the line made a LOT of mental mistakes against the Eagles that Bledsoe never really had a chance to do well (although we still almost had a chance to win the game just due to our talent I guess). Put in the Hall-of-Fame QB Troy Aikman from his prime, and he probably would have played pretty much the same (he actually has had some similar games against the Eagles in the past, even during the SB years with all the talent on the team). Bledsoe obviously doesn't do well against pressure, but when the line blocks decently, that usually gives him enough of a chance to make some plays. If nothing else, at least he might be in a better position to make a big play, which would help buy him more time as the game goes on (other team would be more weary of blitzing). Note that Dallas never really did make any big plays against the Eagles, so they never had a reason to stop bringing the pressure.
Bledsoe has made his fair share of mistakes, but if the line plays the same way as they did this past Sunday, we probably won't be going anywhere this year regardless of who the QB is.

Drew really only makes bonehead plays in tough situations. Road games, bad weather, vs good pass rush, combination of such factors, etc. At Jvile and at Phily are not games Dallas expected to win, only have a chance to win which they did (and agreed Bledsoe did not help the cause and was the offense chief mistake maker). I don't remember Drew blowing a game for the Boys where his shirt wasn't dirty (so to speak), and I don't think the Texans can get to him. He is kinda like Kerry Collins. Very accurate and effective with weapons and time in a nice environment, but more ineffective than most without those things.

RC: Imo the line has actually looked better this year, than last year. Especially considering every week, Flo Adams gets a little bit better.
I missed parts of the game, but from what I understand, Flo did not play very well Sunday (didn't really notice it at the time, but it did seem like that part of the line was where the problems occured). I've listened to Parcells and some of the DC.com writers this week, and they seem to point to that being the case. From one of their most recent articles:
http://www.dallascowboys.com/news.cfm?id=3EF8170D-9ED5-6C12-F3AC49042E3C07B4
Not Just Flo
Parcells doesn't seem to have a problem hearing criticism about certain positions on his offensive line. He just doesn't want the entire line to take much blame.
"It's not across the board," Parcells said of the problems the offensive line had against Philadelphia. "You're saying the offensive line. Let's be fair. But we've had some problems on the left side. But the guy you were all worried at right tackle, they haven't gotten near the quarterback on him."
Parcells is referring to right tackle Marc Colombo, who won the starting job during training camp, beating out veteran Jason Fabini and Rob Petitti, who was released.
But Parcells can't say the same for his left tackle position. Pro Bowler Flozell Adams is coming off reconstructive knee surgery from last season that forced him to miss the final 10 games. Still, the Cowboys had to expect more from their left tackle. Adams has struggled in both of the team's two losses this season, including Sunday's 38-24 defeat in Philadelphia.
"Yes, I am concerned about it, without question," Parcells said. "But it was not entirely Flozell Adams the other night. We had problems on the left side of the line. It wasn't all his doing, some of it was. I think we're capable of better than what you saw the other night. I've seen better against the same team with the same players playing. I know we're capable of better than that."
Adams also had a setback in training camp, when a calf injury caused him to miss nearly three full preseason games. He struggled in the opener in Jacksonville, getting beat twice for a sack, but responded nicely in the next two games against Washington and Tennessee.
Parcells also was referring to left guard Kyle Kosier, signed as a free agent this off-season from Detroit. Kosier had problems teaming up with Adams to handle some of the Eagles' line twists.
"We're not going to go through the year without giving up a sack," Parcells said. "I know that. We've got to minimize those if we can. We've got to minimize the pressure on the quarterback."
I'll give the Eagles credit for putting together a very aggressive and effective pass rush. They are #1 in the league in sacks (IIRC) for a reason. But there were basic things that the line got wrong in that game. For example, I remember one play where someone came inside on a blitz (think it was a blitz), and got to Bledsoe before he even took 2-3 steps back, without being blocked at all from any of the lineman. There's no way that should be happening. Considering the number of times we've played the Eagles, and since apparently they aren't doing anything really different (according to Parcells), I'm not sure why the line made so many mistakes.

I just feel that Adams will get stronger. And we arent facing the Eagles again..... As the season goes, I like this offensive lines potential a lot more than last year. As long as Adams is healthy. Columbo has been a steal.
RC Cola
10-12-2006, 11:07 PM
Oh I agree there. This line is better than the one last year (especially if Adams gets better, which I also agree will happen), and if they can avoid making the mistakes they made Sunday (especially against teams like the Eagles), we'll probably be fine as far as the O-line goes.
I was just saying that some mistakes by the O-line this year have hurt the team, and IMO, those mistakes have hurt the team more so than Bledsoe's "poor" play.

I love it! I mean, seriously! Thankgod the Cowgirls got Palmer to be Drew "Badthrow's" coach. They are like 2 peas in a pod.
Drew: Throws 2 interceptions, and one is returned for a TD. And is sacked 4 times. He does manage to get a TD late in the game though....but too little...too late.
Carr: 2TD's, one to AJ.

That's funny. Walker was telling Jones "who's yer daddy!" Good one, Swoly! LOL. Love that pic eventhough Walker did little thereafter and has retired, that was a priceless moment. I still think we're gonna win this one! The Cowboys have good players but they are NOT a good team and the more TO yaps the more fragmented they become. There are at least two teams their division that are better the G Men, and the Eagles and maybe the Deadskins but at least two.
So my question to Cowboy fans is how are you going to make the playoffs when you probably will only be in 3rd place in the division? Uhhhhh. :p
I love this new Dallas soapopera which called " I Dont Give A Damn About Winning, I Just Want To Hog The Ball." Of course, you arent allowed to tell TO that he could have caught more balls if only he made an effort.
Oh yeah, TO if you can get fingertips on it you should catch it! Period! Thats why Dallas shelled the bones for you and so far they arent getting their ROI just alot of talk and bellyaching about losing when he is just as much the cause for their losing games as anyone else.
For that reason, IMO I see the Texans winning this game because TO needs to learn football is a TEAM sport and to check your egos at the door. :D

First of all, there is no greater jackass than Jerry Jones. He earned that title for LIFE when he fired, not had resigned, not reassigned, not retired, he F--N FIRED a legend Tom Landry! When he did that ALLl childhood strings to me being a Cowboys fan were permanently cut. How can you defend this guy? How can anyone?
To top that he could not even be correct greedy because if he was, he would have had 3 or 4 more Super Bowl championships and then Dallas would not only been the Team of the 90s but best team EVER! But that's not Jerry's style.
The man has an ego SO big you cant even fit it within the state of Texas. Now with TO's hell I'm surprised this state hasnt stretched out with both their inflated egos a puffing.
Jerry cares about no one but himself and what he can get for himself. He will turn on ANYONE in half a heartbeat if he thinks its so warranted.
BTW, that Walker deal Ithe picture) was provoked, Jones said some snide things prior to the game, Walker was a MAN and told him how it was afterwards! Walker told him to stop being a chicken sh*t and man up.

I do not remember specifically but I believe it was general belittling of the Texans like they dont have a chance. You know, TRASHTALK. It may be shallow to hold that against Jones (but IMO he opened the door and Gary slammed it in his face) so he got what he deserved. McNair would never do something like that. He has CLASS and Jerry doesnt.

By MadMax's own post 9-9-2004, he admits the 'Boys did the talking, and the Texans did the walking (winning). Like I said I dont remember specifics look up in archives I'm sure you will find more than enough ammo for Walker to do what he did. Here is why we can win
The sugar sweet...clean living Captain Hairdo....aka David Carr, is actually gonna watch some film this week...instead of leaving early to spend time with his wife and kids the way he does every other week. Cause he knows no matter how piss poor his OL is....we aren't giving him another 4 year free pass unless he at least beats the Brokebacks.
He is gonna look Tons sharper.....and the team is gonna move the ball.
Then next week back to normal.

The way I see it, this is a must-win game for the Texans. Anytime Dallas defeats Houston in any sporting endeavor, it results in a small tear in the space-time continuum. (I saw it on the Discovery Channel once.) If enough holes are formed, all existence as we know it will vanish in a blink of the eye. Thus, the Texans must win this game, not just for the city of Houston, but for the entire universe as well.

I love that picture of Walker giving it to ole' Leatherface. The Cowboys have a lot going for them. I really like their running game, the defense is solid and Parcells is one of the best in the business. They just have a couple of problems: their city, their fans and The Cancer that is T.O. They can't do anything about the first two items. Dallas will continue to be a vile, plastic city built on lies, social intolerance and fake boobs. The pig ignorance of their fanbase is a given. To see them turn themselves in knots trying to defend him has been great. Nothing is sacred to them. I have a feeling that they would support somebody who spat in Tom Landry's face as long as he worked for the Cowboys...oh wait, they already do that with Jerry Jones. Screw him and screw the Cowboys.

Come on now, if there's one thing we are familiar with it is the short passing game. And yet we're trying to QB sneak that one yard? Gah...
You have to factor in the rain (it just started raining hard again)... it effects the passing game.

I don't think its the line... I see holes, and I see them rushing too fast to the wrong one (kinda like Jones just did for Dallas).

Was that a hurry for Mario?
Even though this defense still has its glaring holes... I will give the coaching staff credit for improving their play from the first horrid 3 weeks.
They need more talent... but at least they're not completely inept anymore.

Carr still holds on to the ball for too long.
Carr still holds on to the ball for too long.
You're complaining about that on a pass he completed.
If nobody is open, QB's can't just fling it wildly... you have to wait for the play to develop, and if you're under pressure you throw it away.

Agreed... with the o-line being inconsistent, or slow, to develop the holes.. might as well put somebody in there who can move his feet a little.
He still may get only 1-2 yards... but that's better than the 0-1/2 yard we're getting right now.
rezdawg
10-15-2006, 01:16 PM
I'd like to see Lundy in for a few plays...there really is no need to keep trying with Dayne or Gado...do something different, it cant be any worse that it already is.

Horrible spot on that 3rd down pass... he was tackled a good yard behind where the ref is standing.
