(8/02/06 - KTRK/MONTGOMERY CO., TX) - A former Magnolia High School art teacher has been arrested and charged with having sex with students.

"She was really nice, but maybe a little too open," said student Monical Cottle.

Students at Magnolia High School are already aware of the arrest. Lisa Minchew, 28, was taken into custody just before 8am Wednesday. The former Magnolia high school teacher is charged with having sex with at least two underage students. Investigators say the students are between the ages of 14 and 16 years old.

The allegations are not surprising to some students, who say they heard about it last year.

"Just a couple of guys who we're friends with around school, just about our age, about sophomores and juniors," said student Shelby Williams. "They would say she's at their parties and they're all bragging about how they slept with her and they'd buy drinks for her and they're like, 'She's a really cool teacher.'"

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office says they've investigated the case for six months, saying some students complained to their parents after hearing rumors Minchew was having sex with students.

"We're asking anyone with information. We have a former teacher sexually abusing some children and it's a serious incident," said Lt. Joe Sclider with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. "The children are not in trouble in any way. They didn't do anything wrong. We're just trying to get all the facts in the matter and to prevent this from happening any further."

Investigators believe there are other cases out there. They say it's very common for victims to believe they're going to be in trouble, but they're trying to make it clear that that's not the case and they're asking anyone with any information to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department.

As for Menchew, she remains in jail on $75,000 bond.
