It was time for me to get a new car. I discovered that I had cracked the oil pan and throwout bearing retainer from my tranny off of my '92 Stang. I already ordered the parts, and they should be here tomorrow, but I decided to pick up a new car as a daily driver/family outing type car.

What did I decide on? Yep, another Mustang. It's a Sonic Blue '06 Mustang GT. Yes, it's stick, and yes, I got the tan leather interior and Shaker 500 Stereo system. I drove my family around ALL day in her. Although not as powerful as my '92, she is far more comfortable to drive.

That being said, I will need to finish repairs on my '92, clean her up, and put her in storage and bring her out for shows, race track days, and when I'm out to cruise. 12 mpg does not make for a great daily driven car.

I'll post pics later. I was so excited, I forgot to take pictures in the daytime.

Congrats on the new car. I've had my 05 GT for 17 months now and it still feels like getting into a new car, it still turns heads. I've never been a Mustang fan until this redesign and I am impressed with the power, handling, comfort, and looks.

You'll get more on trade if there is some warranty left...

Congrats, btw, FT on the new 'stang. ;)

Nice choice. I'm still enjoying my '05 (although it's not a GT). I'm going to build it up myself into a stealth car. Not a racer per se, but I plan on being able to pass up the kids who drive up and down Westheimer on Friday and Satyrday nights.

Sonic blue was my first choice, but the dealer didn't have one with the options I wanted. Settled for the Silver. Not as eyecatching, but I can still find it in a parking lot with no trouble.

Isn't the definition of stealth, "to be invisible?" :D

The 2005 V6 has solid stock power 210 HP -- slap on some headers/ duel it out with a couple of 2 or 3 chamber flowmaster mufflers (two chamber might be ratty with a V6) and then add some other bolt ons down the road that i'm sure are available for the V6 and you will have a solid little racer. No doubt start with the restrictive exhaust on those stock Fords.

How ironic. Most Mustang owners I know hae a healthy respect and apprecition for Corvette's. I guess it's a one way street.

A car that gets 12 mpg isn't a great family car, but a Mustang GT is?

It's a great daily driver and family outing type car. My wifes minivan/soon to be Charger is the family car.

My other Mustang GT is highly modified and is more about power than creature comforts.

I have a sexy minivan. It does everything a car is supposed to. The ladies love it. I'm smoother than Billy Ocean up in that thing.

I'm all like, "get out of my dreams, get into my minivan."

Damn, a tricked out '92 Mustang, a 2006 GT, and a Dodge Charger. I bet you get a fruit basket from Exxon Mobile every Christmas. :)

People still head out to westheimer? I thought it died back in 02? You can run me and my stock 4 banger economy jap sport car. 1.8 liters and 4 cylinders of madness\

Nice car Falcon, Im waiting for the new Supra if it ever comes out :(

This is what it looks like now, my brother has changed it up some since I had it, and that is on PURE motor only....not using the nitro in that picture.

Nah, I believe FT lives in Brownsville. The place is so small, you can make a tank last almost a month there.

Congrats! Now you can join the rest of the "I wanted the Corvette so bad but I couldn't afford it, so I settled for the 'Stang GT" customers. :p

No seriously though, congrats. The Mustang is the only good thing coming out of Ford these days, it's the only car I would ever consider buying from them.

BTW, do you have that sweet 'red leather' interior? I love that.

Yeah. The Ford GT doesn't hold a candle to the vette...

Congrats FT!

I've had mine for 9 months and can't drive it enough. Just a pleasure to drive.

What's cool is Chevy is taking the brillant idea of Ford in making a car the people actually want [68ish Mustang] and building the retro Camaro. So we will have a true pony car war again. Dodge is building the Challenger too but it's not really a pony car, but it does have the retro style at least.

If only US companies did that with all their cars...
