Well at least JVG was right about one thing....
Jon Barry needs to go to a PLAYOFF team because obviously JVG is not taking this team there.
Suck on it JVG.
You know, I thought it was weird reading that article that JVG seems to basically be giving up on this season, I can't believe that would be the case with him, but that's the sense I got reading it.
If the general is speaking in such a tone, then the troops will follow lead...although I don't think the Rox quit or anything this game, they played hard, but the missed shots would kill most teams, it's amazing we're still into it with a minute left.

This may be the one that pushes us over the edge. I've believed all along that we'd still make the playoffs, until now. The Suns is one thing, the 76ers is another. First day, first game of March- the right time to turn it up for the playoff push, and we come out with this.

Tracy disapeared in clutch time.
Yao bricked all clutch shots as always.
They better don't beat anything.
We wouldn't be in the game if not for our two stars. Both had one bad possession in the clutch, but that does not mean you go away from them. I'd rather have Tracy and Yao in the clutch every single time rather than have Wesley try to pull that stupid stunt of his (he didn't even wait for the stars to get involved in the play :/ )...

6-24 three pointers... that's 25% and mostly wide open shots due to Sixes double teaming Yao. We need shooters in a bad way.

So JVG can trade them later?

man alston was iversons biatch this game......tmac actually had a decent game considering the past month his play wasnt great, he got wesley 2 WIDE OPEN 3's cuz he was doubled and wes missed them both, wes and alston shot 8 for 29 or so that is horrible that lose hurt but atleast the lakers are getting beat and utah loss

He was visibly tired well before the game was over. If anything, Yao toughened it out and played through it. But yes, he was visibly fatigued.
That will always be the ultimate dilemma for this team. Fans always bitch about how we should "run, and run, and run", but you put Yao into the equation, and running is going to basically make him a non-factor in the Rockets' plans. The mere presence of Yao on this team forces us to be a half-court team, and that's usually how the entire system is built anyways. The only thing missing from that system are shooters...We're trying rebuild the 1995 Rockets but are unable to find the Mario Elies, the Kenny Smiths, and the Sam Cassells (as well as the Robert Horrys) to capitalize on the enormous attention our two stars demand on the court.
Did you watch the game tonight? Every shot taken by DW and Alston and Bogans were WIDE-OPEN. No excuse not making those shots, these guys are guards, and our guards MUST be able to shoot and do it well...that's the only way this team thrives (see late last season when everyone was making their shots and we went on a tear)

a great rebounder.. sitting in his car stuck in traffic. lol
Several Rockets players need to share the blame for the loss.
Down the stretch:
- Yao missed two contested fadeaway/turnaround jumpers (balls were in-and-out of the rim, you could say unlucky) at the baseline and one wide open 18-footer. Had one shot blocked (too far away from the basket to be called goaltending) and one stripped ball (could be called a foul).
- TMac settled for a quick 3-pointer and missed, which led to a fastbreak for the Sixers at the other end. He also had a costly turnover several possessions later.
- Wesley missed two wide open 3s (he was hacked illegally by a Sixer bench while shooting another 3).
On the other hand, Iverson was playing like a man possessed -- nobody could stop him.

Very disappointing. The Rockets shooting sucked as usual, but, overall, they played a decent game. Ming played well, but faded in the end. TMac had his moments but still doesn't look "fully present." Chuck Hayes quietly had a good game. Iverson just outplayed everybody. Philly was getting some seriously deep penetration, they were like eight feet from the basket most of the game. Not one the Rockets best defensive efforts. The season is fading away.

I just hope that JVG is a realist and not a dreamer and that his intelligence is forced, by tonights game play into knowing that we are just not a very good team! In fact we are a very middle of the road team and significant changes will be required during the off season. Getting into the playoffs might be a lesson in futility.

It's not an "either" or "or", it take talent, chemistry, and heart. To win it all, all these factors must be alligned just right.

By the way, Wesley was playing hurt, so his bad shooting is understandable, though the injury is really a bad timing.
From the stats, Tmac did OK, 3-6 3pt shooting aint bad. Alston 8ast 0 turnover is good. His shooting percentage this season is just slightly below his career average, so I suppose that's within normal range.
From the stats, we lost mainly due to poor 3-pt shooting. That makes me wonder maybe Rockets should really take less 3-pt, ie JVG should change the game plan.

I really think this is the game will cause us the playoff. Everyone sucked tonight, includes Yao. I know he had double-double tonight, but his decision in the last few minutes of 4th caused us the game. He missed FOUR straight shots by taking fade-away when guarded by much smaller players, purely stupid!

We didn't defend well against their penetration and we didn't hit our threes. Same story.
My understanding is that Gerald Fitch is a solid defensive player at the PG position. Why not put him in there to defend against the Nashes and Iversons, instead of Luther Head? Alston has been lit up the last 2 games on the defensive end.

If guards can hit 40% of those wide open shots, we got blowout win.
The turning point was when YAO sit off court in the late 3th, and 9 pts lead disappered in 2 mins.
DEKE played bad and didnt provide YAO a good rest.
the blocked shot was last second of shot clock because no one dare to shoot.

[QUOTE=RocketFan]Yet another post on the Houston Rockets... It was something how I was close on my prediction of the Rockets/Suns Score... Rockets 121, Suns 115... Suns almost scored 115, (111) but Rockets didn't have enough gas to score 27 more points LOL...
Anyway, on the Philadelphia 76ers... This will be a remotely close game... Iverson will go crazy for possibly 40+ points, but his team will come up short...
T-Mac = "Mac Attack?" -- 25 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals
Yao Ming = "The Great Wall" -- 22 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks
Juwan Howard -- 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 steal
Rafer Alston -- 13 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, 2 steals
David Wesley-- 12 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Box Score from Last Night:
T.McGrady 25 pts, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal (0, -1, -2, -1)
Y.Ming 22 pts, 13 rebounds,3 assists, 2 blocks (0, -2, -1, -1)
J.Howard 12 pts, 8 rebounds, 0 blocks, 2 steals (-4, 0, -2, -1)
R.Alston 15 pts, 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal (-2, 0, -1, -1)
D.Wesley 8 pts, 3 rebounds, 1 assists, 0 steal (-4, 0, -3, -1)
^ Weird that I predicted so close huh??? ^
ALSO...
Anyway, on the Philadelphia 76ers... This will be a remotely close game... Iverson will go crazy for possibly 40+ points, but his team will come up short...
I also predicted on Iverson's 40! LOL HAHA... too bad I wasn't right on the Final Score... :(
But only WNBA predicted a loss.
Again, Yao missed every clutch shots.
So far Yao's clutch shooting is less than 1/20 in the last five games.
Is Yao progressing? Yes. He is taking more care of his stats and trying to be a leader.
And is there anyone happy about Yao's 0 foul and defense when AI dropped 40 points on 66% :o shooting?
So far Yao's clutch shooting is less than 1/20 in the last five games.
Back that up with links/facts, moron.

It's not asking too much to be in Rockets game shape nowadays. I am sure he can hit a jumper here and there and still beat out our current shooters.
