A sports talk radio station in Dallas this week reported the Houston Texans and Vikings are working on a trade involving receiver Troy Williamson. The Texans were interested in drafting Williamson last year and reported to be high on his potential.

If there is any validity to this rumor it could spell DD getting traded to the Vikes. Then again I hear that the Vikings are looking to trade Dante so they may also need a QB.

Troy Williamson + the #17 pick in the 1st round for Houston's 1st round pick. Nice work, Mama Cass!

I heard about this last week. I heard Troy for DD and a 3rd.

I like Troy. He could play the role of Ashley Lelie for the Texans offense. DD would be useless if we draft Reggie. A combination of Reggie and Wells seems better to me than a combination of Reggie and Davis.

He's good but hopefully they don't overpay for him like they did for Buchanon and Babin.

So, DD would be added to the other 3,402 running backs on the Vikings roster? Huh.

This doesn't make any sense from the Vikings perspective. As pointed out earlier, they have a million other running backs that are similar to DD. (Mo williams, Ontario "wizzinator" Smith, etc..) Also, it seems strange that they're giving up on Williamson so soon after drafting him as the guy to replace Randy Moss.
But if this really is true, then i'm all for it. Williamson seems like a great guy as a second reciever and would really fill a hole in our offense.
Of course, this makes it seem more likely that we're picking Reggie Bush considering we'd have no running back if we make this move. And I'm personally a Vince Young guy so I'm kind of scarred at the same time.

Let's toss some more 2nd & 3rd round picks in the drain.
Get on it Cass!

Well considering casserly has no idea how to use second and third round picks, its not like they'll be used properly anyway. Might as well risk wasted picks on trades rather than drafting the usual junk.

If Casserly trade DD away for a WR, I am officially calling for his head and jumping on the Vince Young bandwagon. I don't know if you've noticed, Charlie, but you need insurance at HB in this league...look at your own team last year, with Wells having to carry the load a number of games.
Draft Bush, keep DD, and split Bush at HB and in the slot. You sure as hell don't trade away DD for a WR unless you are talking about an established pro bowler.

Well if this "rumored" deal goes down, then it makes sense that Bush will be the pick at #1 and you're giving up one of the third rounders with which you were probably already looking for a #2 WR.
This is one of those too-good-to-be-true deals, Williamson was a high first rounder last year and with a new coaching staff coming I seriously doubt that the Vikings are ready to give up on him this soon.

Suprised to hear that the Vikes are willing to deal Williamson so soon. I don't see them really needing DD all that bad, especially with the extension he signed. I don't see the Texans dealing the #1 pick for a low 1st rounder (atleast I hope they don't), so I think that's out.
Not sure what to think about this. The DD for Williamson deal was just speculation, I just don't see the Vikings dealing last year's #7 pick for a RB who can't seem to stay healthy and is quite expensive.

You want Young, but admit that Davis is unreliable.

The rumour doesn't mention DD at all. Maybe it would be for a lower round pick.

You think Minnesota is going to trade away the #7 pick in last year's draft for a "lower round pick?"

I meant like 2nd or 3rd rounder, but I didn't realize he was the #7 pick. So much for that.
Much less likely, maybe they want Buchanon.

I think we have a stable enough core of RBs (DD, Wells, Morency) so that we don't need to spend the #1 pick on another.

I'm not going to argue. DD is decent when he is not injured. Morency showed a few good moves. Wells is the perfect 3rd option and backup FB.
Sooooooooooooooo
I think keeping DD and trading Morency would work the best.

Williamson was a 7th pick last year, but his value sure isn't like a 7th pick now. Only 6 catches 2nd half of the year. He is expendable for the Vikes with Koren Robinson out performing him the 2nd half (who they got for nothing via Seattle/drug issues), Burleson and M. Robinson all being good. Burleson and K.Robinson are young and I assume under better contracts than TW.
At this point I'd say Santonio Holmes or Sinorce Moss would be better prospects--probably mid to late 1st rounders. Two mid to late 1st rounders equivalent for the #1 overall pick in a draft this loaded is a bad deal.
Troy W for DD and 3rd makes more sense value wise (running backs never get true value back in trades), if the Texans think Bush can carry it 25 times per game. But I wouldn't do it for the Texans, just take Bush if he is our #1 guy (right now I don't think he should be, but that is debated enough) and take some flyers for a #2 WR later in the draft, I wouldn't invest in TW for a better player plus a draft pick.

Trade Morency for who? I don't think you would get much value for Morency.

John McClain basically shot down this rumor. He said that it started a couple of weeks ago when a caller asked if the Texans would be interested in Williamson, and then it just took off from there.

Yeah, McClain basically said someone asked of the Texans would be interested in trading their 2nd round pick for TW, in which McClain said "sure" since the Texans were really high on him in last season's draft. He said he had no idea how DD got put into the mix.

Has McClain said anything about TO this off-season? I understand the baggage.. but Kubiak has to atleast THINK of the prospect of a AJ/Bush/Carr/TO/DD, assuming we pick Bush. I don't think Palmer could mess up that offense. Then again.. :p

I just don't see Kubiak wanting to add TO so early in his tenture. That could potentially be one of the best offenses in the league, but TO is too much of a risk for a coach that is just starting.

The stupid thing is they can't find one of those guys who can carry the load and never have been able to since Robert Smith left.
Onterrio was probably the best, but he ****ed that up. Bennett is too injury prone. Moore was starting a lot of games by default. then you throw in Moe Williams. I've seen plenty of mock drafts with the Vikes taking Laurence Marouney or DeAngelo Williams.

Minnesota is definetly looking to fill a need at running back. They don't think any of their existing backs can produce in the new offence.
The Vikes are going to make a move for running back somewhere
