Remember: 3 lines, 5-7-5 syllable structure.

Fired is one syllable. Look it up in the dictionary. (The English one and not the Texan one).

A syllable must contain a vowel sound. "ured" is really just the "R" sound followed by the "D" sound. There is no vowel sound in there, so it is not a syllable.
