Southern Cal might be losing both its Thunder and its Lightning.
Running back LenDale White will declare for the NFL Draft on Wednesday, a person close to White told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday night. White was expected to make the announcement during an interview on ESPNEWS.

LenDale White...the best RB in the draft.
Good for him, I think his stock is at his highest. If he stayed one more year, it could have hurt it.

How far do you see White being drafted? Early, middle, late 1st round? Is it possible we could pick him up in our first 2nd round pick? That way we could get a Young/White...

Reggie Bush still hasn't declared. Told sources yesterday that he still wasn't sure if he would or not.

If he doesn't declare the Texans will have to take Young. They'd be crucified if they didn't.

I don't know if I'm in the minority or not, but I believe that White will be the better pro than Bush. He's got speed, size, power, and can make the open field moves. I think he'll be a top 10 pick after the combnes and workouts.

I'm not a very good scout so I won't comment on who will be the better pro. However I really like Lendale.

Perhaps Bush is nervous he'd end up playing for the Saints

not if it's the same paycheck he'd get somewhere else.
the problem with the Saints is the player has no idea WHERE he's going, ultimately.

The only thing that keeps me from believing Casserly will screw up another draft is that Reeves and Kubiak will be part of the equation.
Otherwise, the man couldn't evaluate a draft pick if it bit him on the ass...

Not to mention that the franchise is terrible and the owner is a flake. You made a good point earlier, maybe he`s waiting to see where he will be drafted before he comes out. I guess he could pull a Elway/Manning scenerio and refuse to play for the Saints. I am sure Bush as well as VY wants to go Number 1 in the draft

Hell, they have Duece, although they had Ricky and drafted Duece...They need a QB, not a running back...
Also, I like Lendale over Bush in the pros...

Can you imagine what's going in Leinart's mind?? He is almost a lock to end up with NO. I bet he is regretting his decision to come back for another year. He could have been with San Fran last year enjoying the beach and the babes. Now he will probably end up bouncing around stadiums and practice facilities with a team that will struggle to attract free agents.

Very true.
IMO White and Young will pan out better in the long run than Reggie and Matt.

Well one thing is for sure, I don't think any of the top picks (VY, Bush, Leinart) will want to play for NO. The franchise is hands down the WORST in sports and it starts w/ the front office, Benson is an absolute joke. They've got no coach and aren't anywhere near a hotspot for coaches or FAs at this point. I really think the Saints should move out of N.O. I remember watching something about the commissioner saying that the Saints will move back next season, and I heard the greatest response ever by one of the players, "He should ask himself, would he move his family there right now?"
As far as White, I think this kid has a bright future. Can't say if he'll be better than Bush, but I think White has all the tools to be a better overall back.

I'll say it now..get off White's jock. Just wait till he under preforms at the combine with a Clarett'esque type 4.8 - 40 and comes in with a Tombs like 20lbs overweight. He had a great Rosebowl and I'm sure thats the only time most of you saw him this season. Teams are going to talk about his character issues and he just might slip into round 2. I wouldnt' touch him if I were the Texans.

Draft Bush #1, and White in the 2nd round, hire Kubiak and Saunders, and run the ball like crazy with Bush, White, and Davis.

IMO based on the level of talent each player has and potential:
White can have a decent to good NFL career.
Bush can have good to amazing.
I say this because Bush can do it all aside from the obvious running, he can line up as a receiver and also return kicks and punts. I think many scouts are overrating Lendale based on his size and strength.

I would be shocked if White lasted past the first 10 picks in the first round.

I don't see Bush retunring kicks and punts all that much in the NFL, but that's just me.
I don't think Lendale is being overrated. Like you said, he's got good size and strength, but he also has a nice set of wheels on him. To gain 1300 yards w/ 24 TDs when you're splitting time w/ a guy named Reggie Bush is pretty good in my opinion.

Both players stats are incredibly inflated by USC's overwhelming offensive line.
I am not about to say White for sure is better than Deangelo Williams or Lawrence Maroney yet. He might be, but I'd want to see combine results 1st.
Pending combine/workouts I might pick Deangelo Williams as the workhorse RB of this draft.

All I know is one of those 3 backs will be drafted top 10 to Arizona. They can't be sold on arrington.

I didn't see very much lateral movement from White. I think he's more of the power north/south back. Plus from what I saw during the year, having Bush in at slot couldn't have hurt White's stats.
Come to think of it, USC had 3 pretty good threats with Leinart's passing.
To say that White would be a better RB than Bush might be stretching it.

Finally ... I thought I was the only person who thought this. I just don't see how Lendale White is going to be anything better than an average back in the NFL (unless he's drafted by a team that already has a pretty good RB or O-line). People say Bush got his fame because of White ... it's clearly the other way around. And in the final game, Texas went after Bush because *he* was the superstar on the offense, and that freed up Lendale White to run all over the place.
And that's why I just keep salivating at the thought of having both Bush and Davis on the Texans offense. Watch Domanicks' numbers go up like crazy as opposing defenses try to pick their poison.

If Davis stays, the Texans will have too many threats for most teams to keep up with.

Not at all. SC all season went all season with LenDale in short yardage and the red zone. Usually they are not on the field at the same time, so neither one frees up anything for the other one. But you can argue their Oline, Leinart, TEs and WRs free up plenty of space for both backs--notice the ridiculus yard per carry average for USC as a team.
If Texans' want a part time back good in the open field they should get Calhoun or Drew with a non-1st round pick. You use a #1 overall pick on a RB, that guy better get 20+ carriers plus 5 more touches, not a complimentary back to anyone.

Except we still have Casserly who will probably ignore the OL and draft another RB or QB in the third round. We can have Bush, Young, Carr, Davis, Johnson, Payton, Sayers, Favre, or Montana on our offense, but if they don't upgrade the OL at some point, then it doesn't really matter. I don't have the confidence in Casserly that he will do that.
