Did anyone else see this last night? As if the Texans didn't have enough problems.
Apparently, Peek is chasing Calvin's record. He has 5 or 6 children, through 4 or 5 different women, and owes $200,000 in back child support pay to 4 of them. He also has a warrant out for his arrest on one of these cases.
I hope he gets this taken care of. I like Peek. But there are few worse things than a father who won't own up to his responsibilities.
BTW .....Peek laid blame for the problem on his attorney and financial advisor (per his new attorney).

Texans linebacker drops ball on child support

He's a fan-favorite on the field, but the 11 News Defenders have uncovered what's happening off the field once landed a Houston NFL pro in jail.
Apparently, the Houston Texans linebacker is facing more trouble, and soon the Texans' Antwan Peek is set to go to court again.
The reason the NFL father is in hot water?
KHOU-TV
Antwan Peek owes child support to four women in three states.
Child Advocates call it an "out-of-control" case of having kids, but ignoring your fatherly duties.
On a Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati, there was a battle with the Bengals. For the Houston Texans' number 98, it was a return home.
"I had my family here, and you know, we enjoyed it," said Peek.
He's Antwan Peek, linebacker on the field and role-model off, with time for community activities charities and children..
That particular October weekend, one Cincinnati child went ignored.
Omari Peek is the linebacker's 5-year-old son, but the closest he got to his father was watching him on TV.
"It's a smack in my face, it's a smack in the face of his child," said Omari's mother, Dara Moore, "Fatherhood is being there for your child."
But there's another reason.
Unpaid child support, money needed for a boy with big league dreams of becoming, "A doctor and a teacher and a football player," he said.

"It's ridiculous," said his mother, "It just makes me feel disgusted."
She is disgusted because court records show Peek owes mom and son more than $80,000 in support. This despite making $380,000 a year and getting a $500,000 signing bonus.
"If you're getting all of this money, why would you not extend a hand to help your child?" his mom said.
Records show what little help she did receive was sometimes as low as $31 and change.
How much was peek supposed to be paying? Records say $5,000 a month.
"This is mean and cruel and criminal," said Lynda Benson, national expert and advocate for child support enforcement, "I think it's despicable. This man is not taking responsibility. Every month that that child goes without child support is a difficult month for that child."
But it turns out that Omari and his mother are not the only ones missing that support from the NFL father. In fact, Peek has left a trail that covers three states.
In addition to Dara Moore there's a second Cincinnati mother and child. Peek owes them $70,000 and faces contempt charges from the local court.
In Michigan, records confirm Peek owes a third mother $41,000 and in Kentucky, records show a fourth mother was owed more than $10,000 dollars.
Peek paid that in one lump sum, but only after he was locked up in jail, arrested on a fugitive warrant for felony flagrant non -support of a child.
When 11 News Defenders tried to ask Peek about the back support owed, the Texans wouldn't let their player talk. They said they locker room was closed.
His lawyer, however talked. "He understands he owes money, he clearly does," said Jim Comodeca, Peek's attorney, "Mr. Peek wants to take of his children. What he's trying to do is make things right
When he was asked why is had taken so long, "Well, I knew you'd ask that question, and I, quite frankly, don't have an answer for that question," Comodeca said.
And what about the Texans, what do they have to say about all of this?
"Antwan is not a bad person OK? He's not a bad person. He's fulfilling his obligations," said Tony Wiley, Texans spokesperson.
But for Dara Moore, obligations go beyond all the money owed. Just look at Peek's team bio, she said. The linebacker lists only two sons and neither is Omari.
"He doesn't even acknowledge that my son exists," she said, "Right now he's too little, but one day he'll know all of this, and he's going to see what his father thinks of him."
The Texans say they do garnish Antwan Peek's wages, withholding whatever monthly amount the courts specify. The concern with thatis players only get paid during the NFL season, which is about four months long.
For the rest of the year, it's up to Antwan Peek to keep up with the support payments and that has not occurred.
The Texans aren't saying Antwan Peek dropped the ball, instead, the team says Peek had a bad lawyer who didn't stay on top of things and he's since changed attorneys, and gotten a financial advisor.

Wonderful. Haul his ass off to jail before the kickoff Sunday. Deadbeat Dads are scum of the Earth.
On a side note, my ex-brother in-law had his bank accounts seized by the Attorney General's office and is now being investigated by the IRS for money laundering. Woohoo. :)

I'll reserve judgement, but 1 child by 1 woman, I could understand and chalk it up to an isolated incident. 4 kids by 4 woman. Peek has a "Calvin Kemp" problem and needs to take responsibility for his own actions. I find it hard to believe that these women forced him to have sex with them.

I'm saying the women are at fault just like the athletes are. There are tons of women going out looking to have one night stands with athletes so they can get pregnant and a nice check out of it.

But you have no idea that's what these women are doing. It also doesn't change the fact that you should never be late on any payments that help support your children.

It was funny, i was telling Miguel at work, but I was listening to 610 around 3ish, and they were advertising it during commericals and Mark and Rich mentioned it. They were discussing how they knew who it was and if they should steal Ch. 11 "thunder" for their "surprise" and reveal the player. Rich told Mark "Do it Mr. voice of the Texans".
They were pretty pissed off because Ch. 11 did this story a month ago when they faced the Bengals and saved it until now for sweeps week. Apparently it was a mishap where Peek's finanacial dude that takes care of his expenses did not take care of it, which Peek found out about it, fired him, and hired someone else. Its been taken care or in the process of being take care of.

I think there are some more complicated issue. FFB's ex moved 800 miles away.
Mine moved an hour a way with a promise to move back in 2 years. That was 14 years ago.
One time my kids came for a weekend. It was freezing and their mom sent them with no heavy coats-- only sweaters.
I went out and bought them winter coats from the same place their old coats came from. I deducted the amount from the next child support check and I got raked over the coals by her.
These arrangements are more complicated than many are aware.
I'm no Peek or Kemp or Calvin but child support is not and should not be a one-way street because you never know what is happening to the money. You have no say.

I realize the role of financial advisors and dudes, but I would think he should have a hands on role in making sure his kids are takin care of.

Pretty ****ty of KHOU to "save" the story until sweeps week, if what Marc said was true. I never expect "HARD INSIDE UNDERCOVER REPORTERS" to give the full story because it would probably detract from their story, but this is pretty scummy if you ask me.

Throw his ass in jail. I'm sure these women are seeking money so they don't have to work, but the dude hasn't even made an effort to pay anything. He better be glad his kids don't live in Texas because he would have been in county lockup long ago. The "bad lawyer" is complete BS. You're telling me that these women didn't get ahold of him for months after not being paid? These seem like the type of women that call if it is two days late, much less 6 months to a year.

Of course not, that's silly.
His financial advisor did.

No excuses. Blaming the financial advisor is passing the buck. Funny I bet the financial advisor didn't miss payments on things Peek cares about like his ride or home or homeboys.

LOL! I just did the math. Peek owes 4 mothers $201,000, and he is only making $380,000 per year. That's gotta hurt.
Dumbass :D

ouch. That'll put a dent in your wallet.
After Taxes, I think he can afford ramen. for about 180 of the 365 days a year.

Well, I would imagine that he's getting taxed around 40% of his earned income so he would make about $228,000 after taxes. Then subtract his child support, and he would make $27,000 per year.
LOL!! I make more than an NFL player.
Since when does it take thousands of dollars more to care for a child of a rich parent, than it would for a child born of a poor parent?
If there was a reasonable cap on this child support thing, maybe it wouldn't be such a sought after "lifestyle"........

My state uses a percentage of income to calculate child support.
