I voted for getting to the World Series, but not for the reasons you all think. I'm just so tired of everyone in my office droning on and on without saying anything of substance. I'm sick of local news covering the bandwagon phenomenon. Basically, I'm sick of the Astros. I want sports talk radio to talk about the rockets for a change.

being NL Champs is a HUGE accomplishment. especially since so many..including most here...felt there was no hope in beating the cardinals. if i had a dime for everytime i heard here, "who cares if they make the playoffs..they can't beat the Cards, anyway," i'd be wealthy.

I'd love to make it for the simple reason I'm so tired of hearing ESPN and FOX remind everyone the Astros have never been to the World Series. Besides, did anyone really think the Dodgers were going to beat the A's in '88? Or that the Red Sox would sweep last year? You just never know.

good point. and frankly, i'm not sure we'd be underdogs against the Angels. i think we would against the White Sox...but no more so than we are against the Cardinals.
the biggest World Series upset in my life was the 90 Reds beating the A's. not just beating them....but SWEEPING them. unbelievable.

NL Champs is huge improvement and progression... I would make me happy as hell to win the NL, of course I'd be giddy as a schoolgirl if we won the World Series.

St. Louis Canaries have become of the ASTROS what the Sonics were of the ROCKETS. This time I want to get past their ASS.

Oh yeah, how could we ever forget Rob Dibble's "World Champions of the World"? It's funny when the great upsets of the game are relived, this gets almost no play.

#2 without a doubt. I can't imagine how awesome it would be in this city if the Stros made it to the WS.

If you're so sick of the Astros, then why are you browsing (and posting) in an area of the bbs dedicated to them?

Go to the World Series or not go, seems like a hard decision.

Bemoan the lack of substance and praise basketball?
And uh.. the Rockets, as much as like em, god bless em, are in meaningless preseason, the biggest offseason signing hasn't even stepped a foot onto the court yet.
The Astros are in the hunt for a championship. Sports talk radio has their priorities right if they put the Astros over the Rockets, so you sir, can take a backseat and like it. :D

The journey is worth it. I think we would be favored over the sox and angels.

Believe it or not I bet at 40-1 odds for the Reds to sweep the A's in that series. Cha ching.

I don't think either would be all too bad...I've just really enjoyed the ride. That said, losing to St. Louis again would be the worse of the two.

DID YOU REALLY????
i remember that series starting and people talking about an A's championship like it already happened. there was just a sense of disbelief after every game.
but the Reds were so fundamentally sound. they didn't wait around for a homerun, because they were too busy moving runners and manufacturing runs. and their bullpen was just sick.

Seems like most of you agree with me on this one, beat the Cards and at least get to the October classic. If we lose playing our guts out I can live with that, well at least after the few months of agonizing the loss... :D

Both hurt, but getting to expierence the team that I have religiously followed for 25 years in the World Series would be fantastic no matter the outcome. Bringing the first WS to Texas and to Houston would be nothing short of awesome. I hope I can get to Houston if the Astros are in position to win it.
