Who knows? Maybe the Mets want to overspend the Yankees to prove that they want it more and steal some fan support and create a set of Killer Bees by signing Burke, trade for Bagwell with some hitting prospects, sign all other Bs along the way and make tham the Billion dollar Bs

So Burke is this year's offseason sacrifice to the baseball gods to get us to the promised land again next year? I'll take it that deal.
