Before the series started, I really didn't like our chances in Game1 but I thought the game 2 matchup was one that we should win. If Roy is on his game, there is nobody better. As long as he can stay away from the long ball early I like our chances.

I'm with you my friend... Roy O is head and shoulders above Mulder, and I blame last night's loss on the offense (or lack there of) more then I do Pettitte. Holding the Cardinals to 5 runs isn't a bad outing at all... we just stranded runner after runner.

Because Viz was 5 for 12 against Isringhausen (now 5 of 13), and at this point he is more of a home run threat then Bagwell is.

Burke's starting tonight. Hope he can keep his mojo going.

"I've heard that I'll be starting on Thursday, against Cardinals lefty Mark Mulder. He's tough. He's probably the toughest left-hander I've ever faced. We're going have a tough task at hand. At the same time, we're sending a pretty good guy to the hill [Roy Oswalt] ourselves. Runs are going to be at a premium. It would be nice to scratch out a couple of runs early so Roy can go out with a lead and pitch comfortably. "

My only concern is Oswalt rides the fastball all game. When he has done that in the past, it's cost him. If he mixes his pitches and uses that dangerous curve of his, we'll be in good shape. And if our offense doesn't waste so many scoring opportunites we'll be fine.

We would have won Game 1 if Pettitte's knee hadn't been hurt during batting practice (and especially since he had just gotten over the flu). It took both of those unfortunate events to bring down Pettitte to mediocrity (and yes, five runs against the Cardinal offense is mediocrity; they're capable of 7+ every night).

No way we lose tonight. Oswalt shuts them down, Clemens steps in tomorrow to redeem himself from his last start, Backe rides the adrenaline and comes in to redeem his last start, and Pettitte makes up for yesterday with the clinching game.

I love my Astros.

JBIIRockets
10-13-2005, 07:45 PM
Lane robbed Eckstein there, but look where he hit the ball. Took it where it was pitched.

Edmonds, hit the opposite way.

I'm sure guys like Berkman and Ensberg talk about how great it would be to play in a World Series, but if they are not smart enough to hit the ball where it's pitched, while Cardinal hitters do, they don't deserve to win. They need to wake up.

Nick

I pitch around Walker here... I don't care what Sanders has done.

There's a reason TLR has him batting in-front of the 2005 version of Beltran tonight... its because Larry owns Roy this year.

On Burke, where did this power come from?

He's always been a 2B and 3B hitter, with the OCCASIONAL pop in his bat. Frankly, he's a carbon copy of what Biggio was like in his younger days (with perhaps more natural power).

Man... now Willy's gettin good wood on the ball... nice to see that against a soft-tossing lefty who we don't hit well.

We must not be watching the same game. We've had runners on in every inning. Roy's retired their last 5 hitters.
