Before the season started the guys from 610 sports radio predicted the Texans going 9-7 / 10-6. LOL! I remember listening to them saying to myself they will win no more than 5 games this year. LOL! Proof that just because you have your own show doesnt mean you know everything about sports. LOL! Crazy, I am totally not surprised by how garbage our football team is. Preseason told the story before any of the past 5 weeks had been written. Might as well start preparing for next year and let the youger guys "who arent supposed to make plays" try their hand. At least we will get more heart out of them. Stick a fork in us Torro, we are done!

The Chron waited 45 games to pronounce the Astros dead.....what is taking them so long with the Texans?

the Chron doesn't pay $7 million a year for the broadcast rights of the Astros.

that being said I went on air and said 5-11 at best. I even posted on this board that I would change my sig to something about me now knowing anything about NFL football if the Texans won more than 3. All of the jocks felt good going into the season. They were full of hope as were a lot of people here in clutch. Theyer are no longer singing those praises. I especially point to Matt Jackson who has been adamant about the suckiness of the Texans.

LOL. I heard the same thing and even got into an argument with my friend riding in the truck with me at the time.

Then on one of the shows, not sure which guy it was, but it was before the broncos/texans pre season games and he said that the texans would definitely be better than the broncos this year because they broncos did nothing in the offseason to improve their team and that they were in a decline. LMAO!

John and Lance when they make their predictions OBVIOUSLY do so in a "tongue and cheek" manner. They are like "Oh, we'll beat the Colts at home by 20... yada yada yada." They aren't serious, and if you think they were you need to get your sarcasm meter checked.

Nice :)

Charlie C and Dom C should be thankful for the Stros and Rockets otherwise they did be out of work this morning if they were based in say KC or Tampa.

they were clowning the broncos for picking up those D-linemen from Cleveland that were busts. Hey 610, we have our own busts to clown.

Actually, I can't blame those guys for thinking the team was going to improve. Its like they maxed out last season.

No he is implying that Chron pays 7 mil to broadcast the Texans. 740 broadcast the Astros. I am pretty confused.

regardless of who pays who....the texans organization shouldn't be paying anyone on that team, coaches included....they don't deserve a dime.

texans final record: 1-15.

Well, since we'd improved our record every year we've been in the league, and we filled our biggest hole with a defensive lineman, it wasn't that outrageous of a prediction. You just never know how a season is going to turn out though (ex: Timberwolves, Sonics).

But I agree that we are done. It's been nothing but a terrible season and the only good thing that will come out of it is a top 3 pick in the draft.

Dude B.S. this was not one of their "sarcastic" swings. Everyone was making predictions and they didnt predict we would beat the colts but they did predict we would beat the Jags and Titans. And that D.Carr would take the next step and all that jazz. They made a bet with one guy who said he predicted the Texans would not win more than five games. They jumped all over him he said he would take them to any Steakhouse if they won more than 5 games. They started suggesting Vic and Anthony's etc.. etc.. Stop jocking dude, they were totally wrong on this one. Not that they are supposed to be perfect, just sometimes they make it seem like they know everything IE: Rome style.

They can still go 9-3 the rest of the way... eh, eh?

I was being sarcastic. We pay $7 million a year to own the NFL broadcast rights for the Houston Texans.

The chronicle is an objective observer with no direct vested interest in the success or failure of a team. It's different with us. We are directly tied to the success or failure of the team. If they come out of the gates 0-9 people lose interest and our 7 milly becomes a bad investment. Our guys are more inclined to hold on to hope that the team will turn it around. The Chron, after 45 games, felt the season was hopeless. Our guys don't think that (at least publicly;))

Yeah but dont you think that hurts your/the shows credibility? I mean thats the whole point of your show, tell it like it is. I understand the "corporate" issues and all. Knowing that you guys have to adjust your opinion to what sounds good for the people you pay makes me not want to listen in on the show. I am in Iraq and other than chron.com - Houstonprofootbal.com - Occasional ESPN.com You guys are my only sense of knowing whats going on in Houston sports. Not to mention you have the only webcast that I can connect to. I guess what I am asking is what should I believe when I listen into you guys. If your not telling it like it is, why should I listen?

Chance cmon, 7 mil to broadcast the Texans is a gold mine. The $ 610 gets thru advertisors im sure at least DOUBLES that. Even if the team went 0-9 ppl lost interest the advertisors I am assuming have seasonal contracts, so for the year at least it is not a bad investment. The NFL is so lucrative that even an 0-16 team tho ppl will still tune in.

One other question I have for you Chance is how does 610 determine how many ppl tune in to all the different shows? Is there any sort of ratings system?

i don't think anyone at 610 has been going easy on the texans since the season started. maybe vandermeer. but certainly not the rest of the guys.

look...there are a group of you who think they're homers.

there's another group who thinks they're all transplanted yankees who don't give a damn about Houston teams.

it can't be both ways.

i agree.

but they've been critical. they're talking about who and who won't be coming back next season....including the coach and gm who both have shows on the air.

it's not like the guys on 610 are saying, "hey...this is a good football team just waiting to break out!" they're not saying that. not at all.

I agree with you on all points...However, I wish they would be a little more i guess for lack of a better term 'intrusive' when Dom Capers has his little show on MOnday's. They don't have to be rude or aggressive, just a little more straightforward...

I agree that since the season started they have been very fair with the Texans, which is to say they have been trashing them. there is no way you can put a positive spin on this season. other than in the interviews, lance, john, matt, and adam have openly wondered who should get the ax and have been very critical of casserly.

Wow. did you listen? Rich asked him if his job was on the line. i thought that was a non-homer hit-you-in-the-gut kind of question. The guys have absolutely been critical. they have all, all six of them, admitted that the Texans sucked. They've all, all six of them, changed their season predictions.

Nobody (except me) thought the Texans would be THIS bad.

On a side note I like the Texans in an upset Sunday night. You heard it here first.

Hey Chance, a little off topic, but I never got around to asking you...What did the Texans think of their flagship station running commercials for a company (TXU Energy) that bashed their biggest corporate sponsor in every ad they ran?
